Should the way school schedules are arranged be changed to better suit student’s sleeping time?

Sleeping is very important, there is no denying that, but what if it was completely ignored? That is practically what schools are doing. They make students wake up super early, then give them homework that takes till 1am to do. Because schools are destroying student’s sleep, we should change the way school is scheduled and lowering homework.

First, sleeping is very important. Sleeping is very important for our health, well-being, and general pleasantness. Lacking sleep can lead to serious health diseases such as but are not limited to: heart disease, high blood pressure, and diabetes. We need to change this to prevent dangerous diseases.

Next, you may being thinking: well if school starts later, where will extra-curriculum go? Well to put it simply, if we edit schedules, there will in fact likely be more time to extra-curriculum. How? Because if we edit schedules along with lower homework, students will in fact have much more time due to not having to spend 6 hours on homework each day. Schools should lower homework to make more room for extra-curricular.

Lastly, it affects student moral when they are sleepy. Sleep depreciation is proven to cause depression and overall gloominess. Happy students tend to work better than sad students too. So, if students are sleepy, they’ll be more distracted and work less efficiently than ones that have slept well. Schools should edit their schedules to increase student moral by having them get a good nights sleep.

In conclusion, schools should change their schedules and lower homework amounts. This is because it will prevent health problems such as heart disease. It will also increase the time student’s have for extra-curriculum by lowering the time they spend on homework. Lastly, it will increase student moral because sleeping more increases general happiness. If schools care about their students, they must change.

How much sleep do you really need

You need at least eight hours of sleep more and more is recommended. Although some people might say that sleep is just a waste of time. But no you need sleep to survive you can’t go a week without sleep otherwise, your dead. There are three cycles of sleep light sleep deep sleep and R.E.M. sleep (rapid eye movement). Sometimes how much you sleep matters with your age other times your health.

A toddler should get about 11 to 18 hours of sleep. a child should get 8 to 12 hours. For seniors they don’t sleep a lot and get about 5 to 9 hours of sleep. And not only do healthy sleepers differ from each other in how much sleep they need, but healthy sleepers also change their sleep needs over time. More sleep is always good but not to much.

Poem about mental strength

as soon as you lose a

beloved one, and you’re life start to

crumble, thoughts of

death start to arouse,

ending in

frustration, you think “what did i do to deserve this

gruesome thing? didn’t i do so much for the world,

however it repays me by removing a loved one, on

instagram everyone seems

just fine, it’s

killing me how their

loved ones are still around”,

maybe it’s happened to you before, and

nope this is

obviously not the best way, to

pass your depression,

quite frankly it’s

really the worst way there is. the first

step is to change a habit, it could be

tiny or a big step, yes it may be

ugly but it helps a lot, this will

vanquish your depression and

when you have changed, it’s like once you’ve mastered playing your

xylophone, after that, it’s all a breeze. The past of

yelling and depression all seems so

zany.

Life is Hard With and Without Help

Life sure is hard! Time and time again, I feel like I can’t go on. We feel lonely and confused. Nothing works outright and you feel like a failure. That is exactly what Waverly, a girl in the short story Rules Of the Game felt. To crown it all, her mother did not even understand her troubles and she was alone. In a bubble, alone, with no help and joy! But one day she heard a very important proverb:

“Wise guy, he not go against wind. In Chinese we say, Come from
South, blow with wind-poom!-North will follow. Strongest wind cannot be seen.”

From this, she learned an invisible force. She had a weapon, an invisible strategy that provided her with power. We see that life is hard without help. But when you receive help, you are relieved of a burden. Waverly, with the superweapon, the proverb, pulled through many troubles. As we call it, ” went all the way” Waverly did just that. She attended chess tournaments and won many. Finally, she reached the status: the Great American Hope, a child prodigy, and a girl to boot. Although she struggled with the clash of cultures, American and Chinese, and distress at home, and a mom not having the ability to understand or help, she pulled through and became a national chess champ!

Waverly’s story shows us that life is hard without help. But we can do it, no matter what comes our way, we will Veni, vidi, vici: which means in Latin I come, I see, I conquer. Like Waverly, despite all the obstacles on the way, we must persist. Then, we will be rewarded with the title of ” a person who succeeded!”.

Connection to “Rules of the game” by Amy Tan

After I read this story, I went over some parts that I liked and I made some connections with the main character in this story, Waverly.

I read that sometimes she didn’t get along very well with her mother which I totally understand and how she is struggling to tell her mom that she wants to take part of the american culture too.

I can relate to this part because according to Chinese culture, a lot of the holidays include eating dumplings. (Which I totally dislike.) and I want to try eating something different, like something normal people here would eat on a special occasion.

Also when I read from different parts that I enjoyed, I noticed that Waverly mostly has to listen to her mother or else her mother is going to get really mad, unlike the americans who usually have a free will.

I can still relate to this because my mom is just like that, thinking that whatever she does is beneficial to my future and makes a big deal about what I want to do.

Finally, I feel like how Waverly is somewhat similar to me because we both want and long for our right to make decisions about our life and how we want it to be.

Sleeping

Enough or to much
Sleeping is very important and is something that someone has to do in order to stay healthy and safe,

People all around the world may be weak just because they did not sleep like there were asked to,

headaches, brain damage, and sickness is caused by not sleeping,

So if you look back as when you were a kid didn’t your doctor tell you what time do you normally sleep and how long?

Don’t you always hear this one line at night that says ” Time to sleep, get ready!”
Not everyone has the same time at sleep,

People in different age groups sleeping in there different times and limits.
Usually Elderly sleep around 7 hours to 9hours time may vary,

Young youths may sleep around 9hours to 11hours, every group is different, it is just like a line of who is first and who is last.

Not sleeping is a very bad habit because 50% to 70% have gotten a diseases from not sleeping and that is quite a handful of people.

So if you are a person that like to do all-nighter than that is a very bad thing to do, changing your sleeping habit or even changing your schedule may help you get a better health and life.

What I think about “The Rules of The Game” by Amy Tan

“The Rules of The Game” is a short story about a girl who is very good at chess. However, her mother decides to take advantage of this and shows off her daughter, flaunting her like an in demand item wherever she goes. Finally, the girl stands up to her mother, and thinks about her and her mother playing against each other on a chessboard of life.

I think this is a very good story, as it is a relatable work of realistic fiction. I think we all know what it feels like to have someone be controlling, and have you do what they want. The girl in the story, Waverly, is controlled by her mother, practicing under her strict eye and attending tournaments for her.

I feel bad for both Waverly and her mother, Waverly because she is controlled and not able to do what she thinks is best for her, but also for her mother because she is trying to give Waverly a life that will prepare her for the world, which will be tough regardless.

I think the theme of the story is to wait before you act because something else may come. In the beginning, Waverly’s mother states: “‘Wise guy, he not go against wind. In Chinese we say, Come from
South, blow with wind-poom!-North will follow. Strongest wind cannot be seen.’ ” What she means by this is that if you are wise, you will know that the ” Strongest wind cannot be seen” or that you can’t see the strongest thing that comes until it happens, and to not act before it does.

I would recommend this story because it is relatable and a good read, but also because it is well written and easy to understand. The characters are also multi-dimensional, with several different characteristics.

In conclusion, “The Rules of The Game” is a very good story and I enjoyed reading it very much.

How much sleep people need

I think that the number of hours of sleep we need depends on the activities you do and your age. If you are a baby, you will need a lot of sleep,12-18 hours, an average third grader will need somewhat 10 hours, a tween or teens will need 8-10, about nine hours. Seniors and grown ups need less sleep.

The number of sleep you need depends on your age because different age groups do different things. A baby will need lots of sleep because they are small, and young. Third graders or older, thus they don’t need that much sleep. But they still need a fair amount, because they do more and different activities than babies. Tweens have more work to do so they might need an average of 9-10 hours and teens will need 8-9 hours. Grown ups may need an equivalent amount of a little less sleep than teens.  Seniors take naps in the middle of the day, so they don’t need that much sleep. They sometimes go to sleep very late, having 5-7 hours.

The number of activities you do and how tired you are also depend on the amount of sleep up needed. If you are a pro basketball player, you will either need very little of a lot of sleep. But most just party all night after games. If you do sports, especially late night games of travel games, you would need lots of sleep to recharge your energy after a game. If you spent your time reading, you wouldn’t need as much sleep as a sports player. Basically, the amount of sleep you need depends on what you do. If you play tiring sport games, you will need more sleep, while a person who reads wouldn’t use up that much energy.

Sleep deprivation

Sleep is a very significant aspect of everybody’s life. We spend about 1/3 of our day sleeping! But why do we sleep so much? And is sleep so important? If not, why do we sleep so much? Sleeping is important. It’s said everywhere: in ads, articles, etc. But why do we sleep about 1/3 of the day? I mean, isn’t that redundant? If you’re an adult, yes. How much you sleep varies depending on how you are biologically hardwired and it also depends on your body’s current needs. So how much should we sleep? “For newborn babies, the ‘may be appropriate’ range is from 11 to 18 hours. For seniors over 65, that range is from five to nine hours.”

Ted Talk Mental

In this Ted Talk about learning to be mentally strong, Amy Morin talked about her personal struggles, and what we can do to grow and develop as mentally strong people. Amy Morin experienced losses of her mom, her first husband, and her second father-in-law. She felt as if life was not fair to her and compared herself to her friends. As she went through her life, she let go of her bad mental habits, and stopped dwelling on her past. My biggest takeaway of her Ted Talk was to not compare myself to other people but to compare myself to the person I was the day before.

Amy Morin also spoke on some bad habits to let go of. One poor choice we make on the daily is worrying about pleasing the people around us. A positive person speaks on what they feel is right and doesn’t let other people control them. Another bad habit is giving up after failing the first time. Failure is not always bad, and it can help people improve and learn from their mistakes. Lastly, we should not feel bitter about other people’s successes. Instead of moping around being jealous that other people are surpassing us, we should celebrate other people’s accomplishments.
