In the short story Landlady by Roald Dahl, the main character Billy is looking for a place to stay. He see Bed and Breakfast and thinks that it would be a nice place to stay because of its cozy aura. When he rings the door bell, something strange happens. A lady appears and comes to open the door the second Billy puts his finger on the doorbell. He thinks this is strange, but he puts his thoughts aside because it is really cheap to stay there. A room is already perfectly set up for him, so he goes downstairs to sign in. He notices that there are only two names on the book, which he feels are familiar. Both names are also from two or three years ago. When he brings this topic up, the lady tries to steer the conversation away so Billy does not find out who they are. The lady also stuffs her pets! She also says that the last two people who came here to stay are still there. Billy may think that all the strange things that happen are no big deal, but I think otherwise.

I don’t think that the lady is trustworthy. She has unusual habits that seem dangerous. Plus, her neighbors seemed to have all left, or stayed in their homes for a long period of time. She also mentions that the two people are still living there. This brings me to think that they are actually dead and stuffed.

The short story, the landlady was a very interesting story and I liked everything about it.

The first reason I liked the story is that it describes how things look very well. The reason I think this is because the story says ” He was wearing a new navy-blue overcoat, a new brown trilby hat, and a new brown suit”. This quote describes what the character looks like.

The second reason I liked the book is that it makes you want to keep reading the story. The reason I think this is because it starts with a cliff hanger and in the middle of every cliff hanger there is always another cliff hanger.

This is why I like the short story, The Landlady by Roald Dahl.

Imagine a futuristic world where high-speed internet flows through every nook and cranny on our home planet. Even the lands of Africa would be prospering with advanced technology just like Wakanda. Elon Musk’s StarLink mission will satisfy all of one’s needs. All of this seems too good to be true, and that is sadly correct. In order to determine the true value of StarLink, one has to first consider the consequences. StarLink is not a great idea because it will obscure the view of the night sky and also render Earth as a more vulnerable planet.

The article Elon Musk’s SpaceX will launch another 60 Starlink internet satellites into orbit around the Earth tonight bringing the total number to 482 highlights Elon Musk’s StarLink mission that will launch over 12,000 satellites in total to upgrade internet speeds. All of this sounds great, as this monstrous amount of satellites can provide people with better internet. Although this may be true, the satellites also block out a significant view of the sky. The article states the satellites will be visible from every point on Earth, which further worsens the problem. A considerable amount of scientists and stargazers have argued these satellites will erase the beautiful night sky previously known to mankind. Elon Musk attempts to solve this problem by using visors to limit the reflective light bouncing off of the satellites, but the article suggests the satellites will still be visible from Earth. Even though the satellites would be less bright, they could still interfere with the work of sky gazers and be misinterpreted as newly discovered stars. Furthermore, the flashy satellites will also confuse the radars on Earth and limit their range and accuracy due to the massive wall of bright satellites. It would also be more difficult to plan when to launch rockets into space because there is a much high probability of the rocket colliding with satellites. The StarLink mission would be a disaster as it produces a blockage to outer space.

Not only does StarLink block a vision of the outside world, but it also makes planet Earth more vulnerable to dangers. A diagram on the website depicts the distance at which the satellites will orbit. The distance between the core of the Earth to the crust is about 4 times wider than the distance from the crust to the satellites. With a bit of math, it is concluded that the volume of the area enclosed by the satellites is slightly over 1.9, or 1.25^3, times as spacious the volume of the Earth. This increases the risk of being hit by an asteroid over a given period of time by a whopping 90%. In this case, when an asteroid hits, there will be a 47% chance of it destroying the satellite orbits, and 53% of it hitting Earth. Both of these situations are terrible, as the first case will trash billions of dollars into the abyss, and the second case can possibly cause humans to go extinct. Additionally, satellites will theoretically increase the chances of encountering other intelligent life. These alien life forms can have the power to perform unimaginable harm to Earth. Endangering Earth is not something one should do.

Critics may argue that the mission is worth it because it can provide everyone on Earth with high-speed internet, but this viewpoint is blurred. One has to first take into account the true hidden dangers this mission possesses. Even if those aren’t deadly enough, this mission will only provide better internet to those who already have it. Some poorer regions without WiFi will still have no WiFi. It is only the places that already have WiFi whom will receive better WiFi. StarLink is not a mission to help the unfortunate, but one to help the fortunate. Only currently prosperous countries will step further, while poorer countries are still lurking behind waiting to be helped. StarLink does not provide everyone with high-speed internet.

As wondrous as StarLink seems, it is not worth it. Having a massive wall of satellites orbiting Earth will obscure the view of stargazers and also weaken the power of radars. These satellites also significantly increase the probability of a catastrophic asteroid collision or an alien encounter. Always consider something’s consequences before agreeing to it.

Why Billy shouldn’t have entered Bed and Breakfast a Motel. Why? Because things happened to him that was shocking. Billy should not have entered, he got in some trouble and learned some shocking things. 

It all starts on a very cold night with ice blades on his cheeks. The first sentence kinda got my imagination about this into a dark and moody mood. I thought something was going to happen to Billy. And yet soon something did happen to Billy.

Usually, Motels are nice and cozy and nice. When Billy went into the Motel he brought him into some serious mess. Something no one wants to experience. The Landlady seemed nice in the beginning. Then after a while things started to change. She had this subsection of talking about people’s skin. Which to me, I thought was kinda weird. Even weirder she told him that two other people came and they are on exactly the fourth floor. But Billy never really saw anyone else. 

Like I said he never saw anyone else. The landlady talked about how she stuffed her stuffy. When I read that I got the shivers and I knew the people were up to no good. Just after that the LandLady gave Willy some tea and wanted to have a nice talk, and so they did. When Willy was sipping the tea he felt very ill. Soon he realized he had got poisoned by some drug. 

So in the story “The Landlady” the secrets of the Landlady were revealed. She wasn’t a good person. So as I said this is why I don’t think Billy should have not entered the Motel. Bed and Breakfast

After reading this short story, I thought about what I would’ve done in Bill’s situation for meeting the landlady. She was creepy in some sort which would’ve made me feel cautious. If I were Bill to check the registration list and see only two names, I would’ve been wondering, “Why would there only be two names? If there were only two names, does that mean there were bad reviews?” I would’ve been a little bit more cautious.

The reason why I would be cautious by the moment I step inside is that the woman opened the way a little too fast. She opened the door as if she was waiting for Bill to arrive…like she knew he was coming. This wouldn’t be normal because normally it would take half a minute to open the door. Like I said, seeing only two visitors on the check-in list would be a little bit suspicious. When there are only two visitors to the hotel and when they had sort of an analogy. If Bill came into the hotel, what if the same thing that the other two gentlemen experienced happen to him?

If such things happen to him, I think another person would come to the hotel because to finish an analogy, there have to be two words. but in this case, names. Maybe there wouldn’t have to be an analogy for this to happen. But, my theory for what would happen to him has to do with the analogy he said.

Elon Musk is a very successful person who is a multi-billionaire who is a founder and CEO of Tesla and SpaceX. He went talks about tips for people to be successful too. He has given the people help and will keep trying to do it.

The first tip is “Work like Hell.” When people work much more than others, they will be much better in the future than most. When an intelligent person does not try nor work hard, although that person is smart, one might not be successful as people who are not as smart but works very hard. People must work as much as Elon Musk to be just as successful.

The second tip is to “have a high pain threshold.” What Elon Musk means by that is to work hard and keep working when one has pain. If one continues to keep going even when one goes south, that person will be successful. When one stops continuing to work, that person will not be as successful as the one who keeps trying.

The third tip is “Critical Think.” People do not critically think enough. People critical thinking to solve problems, help the world, and learn from mistakes and improve. People must critically think for when they make mistakes and try to help and improve so it may be better for it to work.

The fourth tip is “Add Value to Society.” What Elon Musk is saying about this tip is to make something that will help everything and everyone. An example is that Elon Musk made the Tesla to help people drive and save the money from gas because it runs on electricity.

The fifth tip from Elon Musk is “Take Risks.” People take risks that most people do not. Elon Musk takes risk even at the expense of thousands of dollars because if it works, there could be millions of dollars. For what one is doing, they must take risks for making everything better and easier.

The sixth tip is “Have a Great Product/Service.” To help and make more, one must have a great product to sell and to help people and services for others. If the product is not very good, then people would not want to buy it. If the service is bad, then people would not want to buy it because the service is bad and they expect the product is too.

The seventh tip is to “Attract Great People.” When one attracts great people than the people who know what they have done, they will want more because of the person the people are working with. To attract Elon Musk, one must make a great thing for Elon Musk to look forward to or be interested in.

The eighth tip is “Constantly Seek Criticism.” What Elon Musk is trying to say is that one must keep knowing that there will be people who disapprove of what one is working on and try to make them interested instead of uninterested. To make it better, you could ask them for help and tips.

The ninth tip is “overcome critics.” One must not believe in what others say about one’s work. One must not feel bad about what others say but try to overcome it to focus and work on what one has planned. If one try to make everything horrible by telling another about the wrong things, then they are probably trying to keep one down instead of rising up or they are jealous.

These are the terrific tips that Elon Musk shared with other people to help them make the world better and change it.

Billy is the main person who somehow walks to his hotel when he goes into another one. The logs are 2-3 years old and the people are said to be missing but Billy can’t think how this place could be why they went missing so he rented a room and then he went down for tea the stuff went bad he found out that the animals the lady had was was stuffed and she says that the missing people are still in their rooms.

Billy should have left right when the lady said the people were in their rooms because they were missing so they were dead or trapped in the rooms so yeah.

” The Landlady ” by Roald Dahl is a short story about a young man named Billy Weaver who needs a place to stay for the night. He ends up going into a boardinghouse, where he is greeted by a landlady who ushers him in. He notices that the landlady has stuffed her dead pets. Later, the landlady asks him to write his name in a book so she can “remember his name.” He sees two names, of men who came 3 and 2 years ago. He remembers their names from a newspaper that said they had gone missing. She gives him a cup of tea that tastes like bitter almonds, and when he asks whether she has had any other visitors besides him lately, she says no.

As it turns out, the tea was actually poisoned with cyanide, and the landlady poisons men and stuffs them like with her pets. The two men went missing because of this. In the story, the landlady says that the men haven’t went missing and are still staying on the 4th floor, where they are stuffed.

I don’t really know how I feel about this story. It was really interesting, but I find it eerie and creepy. I can imagine everything happening, though I don’t want to. I feel like this wouldn’t be a story I would have read if I wasn’t required to. I don’t like horror at all, whether shows, books, or movies.

To me, the theme of the story is pretty clear: be wary of strangers, and don’t trust everyone you meet. We can see that poor Billy was naive and trusting. Even though he thought the landlady was a bit eccentric, he went in anyway because it was cheep and because he was tired. The landlady seemed to be kind, so Billy didn’t mind anything. He should have realized that there is more than meets the eyes. After his already made bed, seeing the stuffed pets, and the suspicious names, he should have hightailed out of there.

I feel like this story represents the young, naive population vs. the crazy, bad population. I bet any little kid would go off with a stranger offering them candy unless they know the danger of it. We all need to remember that people can be bad or mentally unstable, and not be naive like Billy.

If you like a bit of thriller, I would recommend this story because it kind of gives you the chills. I wouldn’t recommend it if you are like me and don’t like horror. All in all, I think it is really eye-opening and makes you think about strangers. It does require a little background research though, because the story does not directly state that the men are poisoned and stuffed.

In conclusion, ” The Landlady ” is a very interesting story that made me think a lot. I think if you read it, it might make you see the world in a whole new way.

As some of you guys know, Elon Musk is set to launch a new batch of 60 Starlink satellites on Wednesday night. A huge amount of people has debated it on whether Elon Musk’s project well affect the sky, and some astronomers say it will block some of the Beauties in the night sky. They are going to have 1,000 satellites in orbit by the end of the year and has also been approved by the FCC to launch over 12,000 in total. Collectively they want to form a constellation of thousands of satellites, designed to provide low-cost broadband internet service from low-Earth orbit. There are some things that the satellites will help with.

So, in general, it will be more useful and a lot more people will be able to access it.

Next, They have something called VisorSat, the new addition is said to keep the antennae on the satellites in the shade and prevents sunlight from reflecting off them by forming a barrier over the devices, making them less visible from the ground. Which will not block people’s views.

In general, I just felt like satellites that SpaceX sending satellites into space well have a more positive effect on the world. Plus a lot more people are going to be able to access them without having them blocking anyone’s vision.

The landlady will kill Weaver. I know this because of the information the content provides. It gives us information that she preserved her pets real well though that’s not much of a hint. It then told us that he read a journal with 2 names in it and the landlady talks about it like the past instead of the present meaning that there dead and like she knows how they diedish. The landlady also talks about how 1 of the visitors skin was really good and it’s not what a normal person would really talk about. The final clue was that the landlady kept on asking Weaver to eat or drink something and finally, Weaver drank some tea and said that it was sort of bitter like it had drugs in it.

These are the 4 reasons why people know the landlady will kill Weaver.
