This story mainly focuses on a family, more specifically the grandmother, Bailey (dad), and June Star (daughter). The family is about to go on a road trip, but the grandmother complains and also gets the family in trouble. Grandma wanted to go to somewhere else besides Florida because their family always goes to Florida. She also complains about how in the modern world a good person is hard to find and many people have bad or evil thoughts. Once they get to a diner to rest and eat, they heard about the Misfits, a group of criminals that escaped from prison. After they ate, grandma lied to the kids about how there was a secret room in their house and since the kids got really annoying (started to beg to go back home), the family drove back home. Unfortunately, grandma hid her cat, which Bailey hates and when the cat jumped on Bailey, the family accidentally got into an accident with another car. Once they got out of the car, they neighboring car came out to help them. Grandma was shocked and recognized the face of these people; the were the Misfits! Unfortunately Grandma had to say that aloud and one by one the Misfits killed them. Grandma’s last words were “You’re a good man right?”

This story taught me about how you shouldn’t say something that you might regret later on, for example, the grandma said that it was hard to find good men, but in the end, when her life was on the line, she started saying that he was a good man and said many people were “good men”.

Don’t think that you are higher than everyone else around you because all of us are equal and even though you have done more accomplishments, you should still be humble. A good man is hard to find shows a lady who thinks she is much more important than she actually is.

In the beginning of the story, a family is deciding to go on a road trip to Florida while the grandmother wanted to go to Tennessee instead. To support her point, she says a criminal named The Misfit is also in Florida. Normally, if someone says that, it would mean he/she is worried about his/her family. However, other events in the story support more of the fact that the grandmother is only saying that so they go to Tennessee. Another thing in the story is the grandmother’s definition of good. The owner of a restaurant they ate at told her a story and she called him a good man because she approved of his actions. Overall, the grandmother is very self-centered and her her definition of good is whatever she thinks is right from her perspective.

A good man is hard to find shows how one shouldn’t think that he/she is higher than others and only change when something bad happens, such as when the grandmother was about to die. For example, in a small community such as at work or school, if everyone respects others, it will be a warm and welcoming community. However, if some think that they’re better, it can become a negative community for people.

“Good” is a word that can be perceived in a million ways. Each perspective has one’s own view and thoughts on its meaning. One can be called good for achieving a goal or being a loyal friend. The short story A Good Man is Hard to Find written by Flannery O’ Conner is about a grandma’s perspective on her family going on a road trip, but are confronted by the Misfit who kills their entire family. Throughout the story, the grandma also calls many people a “good man”, and explains how a good man is hard to find, which is also the title. Some possible meanings of a good man according to the grandma are if the other person is worse than the grandma or the other individual has connections with the grandma.

Throughout the story, the grandma has always been extremely selfish. When Bailey, the dad of the family, was trying to fix their broken car, the grandma boasts that he is not as good as her husband. Also, when the Misfit wanted to help Bailey fix the car, the grandma immediately pointed out that he was the Misfit, thinking her decision was smart and causing his entire family to die. Thinking that oneself is smart, or superior, is also a characteristic of someone who is selfish. All of this information basically proves that the grandma is selfish. One of the main features of a selfish person their eagerness for superiority. One can be called good when in reality it is just because they are not as “good” as the grandma. The grandma called Sammy, a customer at a burger restaurant, a good man because his car was drenched in oil before. This is something to feel good about if one is selfish. The grandma also ended up calling the Misfit a good man which is because the Misfit was a criminal. Criminals obviously are bad people, but this means that a selfish individual will feel superior, one of their cravings. The interpretations of a selfish individual can often be misleading.

During their road trip, the grandma meets a man called Sammy in a burger restaurant. The grandma and Sammy have a conversation which eventually leads to them talking about how the past used to be better. Sammy and the grandma talk about something that is relevant to both of them which causes the grandma to call him a good man. Since the grandma is selfish, many people despise her and don’t enjoy talking with her. This reason causes the grandma to push even further to call Sammy a good man. As a recap, the grandma says how a good man is hard to find, which ties back into the fact that not many people like her. The grandma and the Misfit were also having a conversation about relevant topics, which caused the grandma to call him a good man. These relevant conversations create rare connections which causes the grandma to called some people a good man.

The meaning of this puzzling title can have many interpretations. The grandma might be referring to people who are worse than her, which perfectly suits her selfishness. The grandma might also just enjoy having someone talk to her and create a connection. A hard man is hard to find, or should it be called, a supporter of selfishness is hard to find.

Finding new diseases is dangerous work,

COVID-19 was their only foe.
“Searching 4 new viruses is a grueling job,
It’s not easy it’s no piece of cake.
It’s not something we want 4 do.” says Rob
But then you’ll have to worry every time you wake.
“Hey, Rob!” said Bob come look at this!
It’s some bats we found, in the Abyss.
Let’s test it now,
Somewhere safe n’ sound.
They tested 464 bats, 11 kinds of them.
“AHEM!” the boss said, “Hurry up, we don’t have time!”
Don’t just stand there like a mime, test, test, test!
The crew started to put the bats in and flick (the tester).
“Hey, boss!” Rob said “We found Six
new viruses!!

The Coronavirus SARS-CoV2 is already devastating us for more than five months and is still spreading at a rapid speed. When the virus was first spread, researchers on the news said it was because of some person who ate a bat and got the virus. Also, The Smithsonian has researchers in Myanmar collected samples from bats and they found six new coronaviruses. Bats are known for having a very good immune system so that they can carry the virus without showing any bad symptoms. But that leads to the question, “why does the next pandemic have a big chance to be another coronavirus?”

I personally think that another coronavirus has a higher chance of being the cause of the next pandemic because of three reasons. The first one is that coronaviruses spread way easier than other viruses. People will not show symptoms and spread it. Also, because there are bats in Texas, China, Myanmar, and other extremely populated places, it will be super easy for the virus to grow.

Second of all in the study conducted by the Smithsonian, they only used samples from around 700 bats which 48 of them had a coronavirus. So, if we rounded 48 to 50 and make a fraction of how much has a coronavirus, the fraction would be 1/14. So if every one in fourteen bats has a coronavirus, it could be likely that if a person does not properly cook a bat if they are ever going to eat it, it will be a big chance that there will be coronavirus.

Lastly, Coronavirus stay longer in a person so that person can infect more people in a longer time period. For example, some people are in hospitals from March who are still on ventilators in the ICU. Furthermore they can be infected after they have died of the virus.

Overall, a coronavirus will probably cause the next pandemic because of three reasons. First, it spreads from bats easier. Also, if people don’t properly treat bats then they get infected. Lastly, a coronavirus stays longer in humans so this is why I believe that the next pandemic will be of a coronavirus.

Scientists have been going to Myanmar and other coronavirus-teeming areas recently to get samples from the local bats. Over the past decade, we have discovered over 150 types of coronaviruses all around the world, and there are still thousands undiscovered.

The reason why researching COVID-19’s cousins can help the medical industry is that scientists can find similarities between them all. One strand’s weakness my be expressed more or less in all of them. We can use this info to create better vaccines or treatments.

Another use for all these viruses is finding something that identifies them all; what makes them SARS. Looking at them closely, we can find some identifying traits that show up in all of them, and once we know their basic features, testing kits will have a much better time being designed.

In the long run, studying coronaviruses will help development of of treatment, and other than lifting this pandemic off of us, it can give us valuable information for years to come.

To have a moral compass is t have a basic set of rules that has basically been hammered into us since we were children. For example let’s say that robbery was happening every day and everyone was used to it, then you wouldn’t think that it was so bad and having no robberies would be a bit weird. Everyone has a different moral compass but everyone has the no killing no stealing stuff in their compass.

About the story the misfit is a murderer and robber who says that he has no moral compass. Without a moral compass the misfit only kills and steals because he feels like it and wants to.

Another person in the story is the grandmother whose moral compass is a bit old timely and she was a bit racist but she had the no murder and no stealing like everyone else. Unlike the grandmother the misfit is okay e\with everyone.

Morals are different for everyone but most people have the basic morals down which is why our world doesn’t normalize stealing and murder.

The main character, the grandmother, is selfish. She only cares about herself and what happens to her. She doesn’t want anything bad to happen to her so she does whatever she can to get her way. She dwells on the past and thinks she knows about everything.

One reason the grandmother is selfish is because she doesn’t care about what others think, including her family. Her entire family wants to go to Florida, while she wants to go to Tennessee. She keeps protesting, even though everyone is against her idea. Even though she gives in, she still selfishly brings along her cat as an act of rebellion.

Another reason the grandmother is selfish is because she tricks the family into trying to find the plantation. She is the only one who wants to see the plantation, but nobody else wants to. So she tells the children that there is a mystery inside the house on the plantation. The children whine and throw a fit until their parents drive them to see the house. But the grandmother remembered incorrectly, and the plantation she was thinking of was in Tennessee, not in Florida.

The last reason the grandmother is selfish is when they meet The Misfit, a murderer/bandit, after a car accident. The car accident was the grandmother’s fault, because when she remembered that the plantation was actually in Tennessee, she kicked the cat that she brought along as a petty act of rebellion. The cat jumped onto Bailey, the grandmother’s son who was driving, and he swerved the car off the road. Then The Misfit and his friends show up. First, they kill Bailey, then his wife and children. At first, the grandmother is saying that The Misfit wouldn’t kill a lady, but when that doesn’t work, she switches over to saying that he’s a good man. Finally, as a desperate last attempt, she says that if he lets her go, he can redeem himself for his past crimes. The whole time, she is only trying to get herself out of this situation, and none of her family.

During the time of Marco Polo, people in Europe believed that Jerusalem was the center of the world, which the majority of the people believed. Marco Polo eventually found that many of the beliefs of Europeans were not true, and that there were amazing things out there. Marco Polo was able to see so many things in his lifetime, that he was put down in history, despite living a portion of his life being considered a liar.

Marco Polo would not have been able to see and know the world if he was not born into a merchant family. At that time, traveling was expensive and took a lot of time, so the only people who traveled the world would be merchants. His father and uncle were able to meet Kublai Khan, and when they took Marco Polo to the Mongolian empire, he was appointed as one of Kublai Khan’s advisors.

Eventually, Marco Polo was thrown in prison during a war, and had a lot of his money taken away from him by the government. When he was in prison, he talked with a writer and shared his stories, and when they were released, a book about Marco Polos adventures were published, and Marco Polo became known as a liar for exaggerating the Mongolian empire. However, even as he was on his deathbed, when a priest asked him if he was telling the truth, Marco Polo said that he was not even telling all of his stories, as he did not wasn’t to blow peoples minds.
