Why should stopping global warming be a major priority?

Global warming or climate change is a term for increasing levels of Co2 and other greenhouse gasses in the atmosphere. This is very harmful and it is much more prevalent than one may think. After the Industrial Revolution Co2 spiked, reaching new highs that were never broken within the last million, if not more years. We are constantly breaking new records for most Co2 or hottest day, and we need this to stop. Global warming is very dangerous and society needs to stop it as soon as possible.

Global warming will cause many disasters to happen. Many species will go extinct as they live on ice, which will melt over time. With no home, most if not all will die. The melting ice is also a problem as rising sea levels will cause many problems. There will be increased flooding which will damage homes and kill many people. Also, the world in general will be hotter, making life harder and more difficult. Not stopping global warming is a dangerous decision that could cost many lives in the long-run.

Stopping global warming is really simple, but it needs a lot of commitment and community support. As the government, switching from fossil fuels to solar, wind, or water would decrease the carbon footprint (the amount of Co2 one emits) by a lot. As an average human, try to refrain from using a car, take a bike, or even using public transport would help. Take quicker showers and turn off the lights, all of these are simple, but if everyone does them, it will make a huge difference. Everyone should try to decrease their carbon footprint because it is easy, simple, and makes a large difference.

In conclusion, we should stop global warming. It is very simple and easy, and it makes a big difference. There are major consequences if we don’t. We need to think about the future, not just about little political battles or personal trips. We need to take action now, before it is too late.

Why is graphene such an amazing material, and what is the holdup?

Graphene is made from graphite, and is incredibly durable and lightweight at the same time. It is 1 atom thick, and it is arranged in a honeycomb pattern. It is also very conductive, the most conductive material we’ve every found. It can end up being 10x stronger than steel if made properly.

For graphene to be worth using widespread, it must be better than the material it is trying to replace, which it wasn’t. Europe invested 1 billion euros into graphene, and all they got were some products that technically used graphene, but weren’t good enough to justify the massive price increase.

It is also much harder to make, which makes it even less viable. This is why many people are trying to find a good way to make graphene, such as reusing objects with high co2 to make them into graphene by heating them. People are also using tools like 3d printers to arrange the graphene. People are constantly innovating to make graphene as useful as possible,

In conclusion, graphene is an amazing material with many properties. It is very strong and lightweight. The problem is that it is hard to make. People are trying to find efficient ways to make graphene, and are pretty close to getting some good methods. Graphene is an incredible material, but we can’t skip steps and must do all the research before mass producing it.

Which will the princess choose?

The Lady or the Tiger is a story about a king who punishes people by giving them two doors. One with a tiger that will certainly kill them. The other with some sort of nice thing, such as a lover. In the story the lover of the princess is forced to make the terrible pick. One door with a tiger, the other with a lover. The princess has the chance to tell him which door to pick, but she doesn’t want him with a new girl. Which does she pick? The story doesn’t say but the princess likely chose to tell the prince which door does have the tiger.

She hates the fact that the future lover is someone she hates. “and the princess hated her. Often had she seen, or imagined that she had seen, this fair creature throwing glances of admiration upon the person of her lover, and sometimes she thought these glances were perceived, and even returned.” This means that the woman is basically stealing him from her, and she definitely doesn’t want that. Also the fact that she is doing that in the first place likely means she is not the greatest of people. The princess also likely doesn’t want the prince to be with that person, so she might do it “for his own good”.

Some may say that watching her lover get slaughtered is bad, but she has definitely seen it before. According to the story this is how the king punishes every criminal, and also is very likely to being her along. “But how much oftener had she seen him at the other door! How in her grievous reveries had she gnashed her teeth, and torn her hair, when she saw his start of rapturous delight as he opened the door of the lady!” She thinks about the lady stealing his man more than him dying, meaning she prefers him getting killed.

In conclusion, she would much rather see him die. This is because she hates the woman he will be with if he doesn’t. She also thinks about him getting to marry the woman much more, meaning she thinks this ending is worse. She would rather see her lover die than marrying someone she despises.

Who are most mentally affected by Covid-19?

When Jean Twenge preformed a study he found that an average adult was 52% more likely to have mental health problems than in 2018. Out of these people ages 18-44 were affected the most, according to Twenge. This is likely because older people have financial support and retirement funds, meaning they are still getting money while all the businesses are shut down. Younger people however don’t. Many lost their jobs causing depression, and loss of hope. Another factor is that many younger people already had depression or other mental illnesses as depression surged from 2012 to 2017. Another group of people are parents, as many daycares and schools shut down. This causes parents to have to care for their kids at home, which can interrupt work and will likely cause stress. There are some potential solutions, though most are enviable. One could try to reopen the economy, but this will likely be worse than just keeping it shut down. This is because with the economy reopened, the virus will spread, and this will cause more stress and pain. (I couldn’t write a conclusion because this is a general summary of my ideas because the old one got deleted.)

Why is studying mouse brains important?

Mice have brains that are very similar to a human’s. They are also much simpler to study compared to human brains. They are very easy to breed and train. Researchers already have a very good understanding of mice brains, and recently the Allen Institute mapped out many mice’s brains. They used these maps to create an “average”. This allows many other researchers to use their map to make studying even easier. “In doing so, neuroscientists will have a tool with which to develop new research programs and accelerate research already underway.”

Would you rather not be gen-Z?

I think I would rather stay gen-Z. We have much freedom and enjoyment at our disposal. We have many problems to solve which makes life more fun. We are the problem-solvers, the rescuers, which I think is very cool. It also makes me feel important. I like gen-Z because we have widescale access to the internet and there are many problems to solve, which I enjoy.
First, we have wide-scale access to the internet. I see this as a massive upside, because the internet is amazing. We can get instant access to any sort of information we need. We also have the ability to do jobs in computing-fields of work. These all pay well, and are very interesting. The internet’s possibilities are endless.
Next, some may say that gen-Z is bad because all the previous generations left us with all the mistakes they made. I see this as a total win though. It makes us seem capable and good at accomplishing things. The fact that we managed to make such a mess in our planet is fascinating and I feel that learning about it will be just as interesting. It’s a big challenge, and challenges are fun.
Lastly, we are in a very balanced world. There aren’t any major conflicts. Most people are on good terms, and hopefully the outbreak will make some people start getting up and doing something. Once this is all over, hopefully we can all be on good terms and nothing bad happens.
In conclusion I feel being gen-Z is great and I don’t want to change. This is because we have much access to the internet, which opens up many opportunities. We have many problems to solve, which makes us feel important and challenges are fun. We have a peaceful world which makes life fun living. I’m perfectly content with my current life and I wouldn’t change a thing.

Is it better to focus on your strengths or do a bit of everything when training your brain?

I think you should try a bit of everything but narrow down to your strengths and focus on those once you know them. This is because you must know your strengths first. Once you know them, you must play to them because if will be more beneficial and you are generally better at it. In general you should try everything until you know what are your strengths.
First, you must find your strengths. This is very self-explanatory. Try a bit of everything to find what you enjoy and are good at. This will make later work much easier because you know what you want to do. You must find what you enjoy and excel in to make later life much easier.
Next, you must play to your strengths. This is so the things you do are much easier. If your brain understands and is well-suited to a motor skill, learning it will be much easier. When you play to your strengths it is much easier to learn and enjoy things.
In conclusion, you should find what your strengths are and play to them. This will make learning easier and more enjoyable. When you learn motor skills, your brain may be more or less suited to do it. Figure out what your brain is good at and do it.

Is Solitary Confinement Torture?

Solitary confinement is definitely torture. It has every single aspect of torture. The definition of torture is “the action or practice of inflicting severe pain on someone as a punishment or to force them to do or say something, or for the pleasure of the person inflicting the pain.” which is exactly what solitary confinement is. Severe pain as punishment. Solitary confinement has all the aspects and factors of what torture is.
First, you are stuck in a tiny cell for a major amount of time. This can have many bad effects such as damaging eyesight and losing your voice. Many inmates also start going insane, such as banging their head against the wall to see if they even exist. This is very damaging and a painful experience which matches torture’s definition.
Next, some may say that the inmates deserve it. It’s still torture. Doesn’t matter what they did it’s just the fact that it is damaging and painful, which is what torture is. The entire premise of torture is what you think about what they did and how you think they should be punished. It is all personal opinion and at the end, it’s still just hurting someone who did something as punishment.
Lastly, it all ties up. Torture is hurting someone who did something. Solitary confinement is just that. Pain: loss of eyesight, loss of voice, degrading mental state, and self-harm. Everyone in solitary confinement did something bad and it’s just punishment. Which is exactly what torture is.
In conclusion, solitary confinement is torture. It matches the definition perfectly. It hurts all the victims of it, and it is a type of punishment. It may seem like the receivers deserve it, but in the end, it is torture. And torture isn’t right.

Should we terraform Mars?

We must travel to distant planets, it is no secret at this point. The closest such planet is Mars, and it is very promising. The main problem is, Mars is very inhabitable. No water, no trees, very little atmosphere, the easiest way to fix it is to terraform Mars. This has its fair share of problems though, both good and bad.
Mars is very inhabitable, and terraforming it will help make it much more. Terraforming Mars will help us breath better, get possibly sustainable water, and will make the experience much more smoothly as if it were on Earth. Terraforming seems like a no-brainer, but it has many problems.
Some say terraforming Mars is a bad thing, because we are disturbing the natural surroundings. There might have been other organisms that we would never know existed if we terraformed over it. One of the main goals of traveling to Mars is to see whether there are actual creatures there. Many say it is unscientific and unethical.
Others say that it defies another major factor of what we are trying to do. It will make Mars habitable. This is a problem because another major thing we are trying to accomplish is to see if Mars CAN support life. So if we terraform it, we will never know because it will practically become Earth. Terraforming Mars will ruin some of our main goals of going there in the first place.
In conclusion, terraforming Mars has its upsides and downsides. It will make Mars much more habitable. It will also probably kill any remaining organisms. It will also be like playing on easy mode, and we will never know if Mars itself can be inhabited. It is all up to personal preference and much more scientific research.

How does technology attempting to solve the Coronavirus affect people, and what should you do if you are making said tech?

Coronavirus is spreading fast and many want to help, but how? There are many ways, but some of the most interesting and many are trying to do is to find a cure or create some sort of robot or technology that will help lower the spread. This comes with a downside though, as many people are doing it, there are bound to be some bad apples. Many will purposely or accidentally put some sort of bias in their creations, try not to.
First, are you listening to experts and vulnerable communities? You should try to see what problems need the most solving at the moment. Also browse social media and see if people even need you. Check and see what they want or need most. Also, find credible sources or experts. This will help you decide whether or not something is beneficial or harmful.
Next, check to see if your tech does what it says it will do. Does it work always? Or only in simulated environments? Is is scientifically backed up? Or do you only say it is. You must know all your technology’s weaknesses and abilities. You must always check if what you are saying is completely true.
Lastly, who does your tech give power to? Does it benefit everyone? Or if someone owns it do they have all the power. More people are skeptical about new tech. See if it enables the government to spy or take advantage of consumers. You must always see if your tech is truly beneficial.
In conclusion, if are you making tech, you must always check if it is truly helping. You must see if it is needed. Also, you must check if it does what it says it will do. Lastly you must decide whether or not if it is helping everyone, and if it can be taken advantage of. If you want to make tech to help, you must check for every possible problem.
