Why I think robots handling certain problems are bad ideas

I think building robots to handle problems that are sometimes to complex for people to do or having them perform certain tasks are bad ideas because have you ever thought of what might happen if a robot stops working and starts making a mess of the whole situation?

Well I think that we should try to avoid the process of making robots and letting them do our work for us.

For example, say, Violet, the robot is cleaning the room where the test patients for COVID-19 if she misses a single spot then within a few minutes or even seconds, the germs can spread and infect people who do not have the virus. Another thing that I don’t like robots doing for us is surgeries.

Once I saw in a world encyclopedia, there was a robot, yes, a robot, doing a gal bladder removal surgery. The patient and robot where in France but the surgeons where in USA! But that got me thinking, what if the robot lost control and messed up? That would be a huge problem then.

Overall I’m just concerned about the use of robots and I hope we can just keep the number of robots used in the world low because besides the happiness and entertainment they bring, a misprogrammed robot can be quite a handful!

what I think of Victor

Victor is a character that wants to use “impressing” to express his feelings toward Theresa.

For example during french class, “Mr. Bueller asked if anyone knew French. Victor raised his hand, wanting to impress Theresa. The teacher beamed and said, “Tres bien. Parlez vous francais?”.

Here he raises his hand for a second probably only dreaming about how impressed Theresa’s going to be, not thinking about what the consequence would be. In this case feeling shameful, embarrassed, and scared.

I think that thinking only about what you’re going to do without thinking about the result is a bad habit because sometimes, just one word or action can change the entire situation, like maybe one word can get you fired from your job or maybe because of one action you’ll get grounded, there’s a lot of things that can happen because of something not done or said properly. These are just a few examples of what might happen if you don’t think about your doings.

Finally, from the entire story, I think that Victor is a person who only thinks about the action he’s going to perform not thinking about what might happen after the action is done, because when it’s done, it’s done, and you can’t change it.

“The landlady” by Roald Dahl

“The landlady” is a story where everything is fine and normal at the beginning and then little by little it shows and gives clues in the text about what might happen to Billy.

Like what we discussed at the beginning of the meeting we had, at first, the setting was cold and gloomy and it doesn’t make you less aware of what might happen next because usually, people think that the more serious the setting, the more serious or sad the story that takes place in it.

my opinion of “A good man is hard to find” by Flannery O’ Connor

In my opinion, this book is actually really violent and weird because it includes a lot of killing and the author describes the grandma’s killing with detail that it makes me feel like I’m watching a mini horror movie.

This book also gives me a feeling where you think someone is creeping behind you and you also think that the person is going to murder you.

This book in my opinion belongs in the group of books that me and my parents don’t enjoy or like, because it involves a lot of killing.

I hope that I don’t read much books like this in the future and I hope that our books for next week don’t envolve killing any sort that is described with detail.

Connection to “Rules of the game” by Amy Tan

After I read this story, I went over some parts that I liked and I made some connections with the main character in this story, Waverly.

I read that sometimes she didn’t get along very well with her mother which I totally understand and how she is struggling to tell her mom that she wants to take part of the american culture too.

I can relate to this part because according to Chinese culture, a lot of the holidays include eating dumplings. (Which I totally dislike.) and I want to try eating something different, like something normal people here would eat on a special occasion.

Also when I read from different parts that I enjoyed, I noticed that Waverly mostly has to listen to her mother or else her mother is going to get really mad, unlike the americans who usually have a free will.

I can still relate to this because my mom is just like that, thinking that whatever she does is beneficial to my future and makes a big deal about what I want to do.

Finally, I feel like how Waverly is somewhat similar to me because we both want and long for our right to make decisions about our life and how we want it to be.

What I learned about the black hole article

In the past months at school, I’ve been hearing black hole conversations a lot. I was wondering about them until today when I read this article. I learned that black holes are holes with strong gravitation, meaning that they basically suck things into them like an outer space tornado. Black holes are formed when a star that suddenly increases greatly in brightness because of a catastrophic explosion, also called supernovas.

Astronomers found a black hole close to the earth by spotting two stars orbiting around a giant mass four times bigger than the sun. A team of astronomers from the ESO also spotted a black hole lying just 1000 light-years from the earth.

By studying black holes, we can find out more about the evolution of rare stars: from how they begin their lives with a mass about than eight times the sun to how the end their existence with a supernova explosion which sometimes form black holes.

My opinion of “Ransom of the red chief” by O. Henry

I think “Ransom of the red chief” is kind of funny, boring, and confusing at the same time because I’m not that interested in Indians or cowboys or the idea of kidnapping. I enjoyed the part where the boy who was kidnapped stuck a red-hot boiled potato down Bill’s back and mashed it with his foot though and I thought that even though I don’t like Indians and cowboys, the thought of the kid trying to make-believe and pretend that he was holding the men that kidnapped him captive got me thinking. “Why would he be happy even though he was kidnapped?” if I was the kid who got kidnapped I would be horrified! So this is my opinion of “Ransom of the red chief” by O. Henry
