Ted Talk By Guy Who Talks About Chickens (IDK YOLO)

Being defensive may not be a bad thing, but when we become too defensive, it may cause lots arguments and may also trigger defensiveness in other people. Jim Tamm compares humans to chickens. There is the easy going batch of chickens, or the green zone chickens, and there is the mean and evil looking red zone chicken.

The green zone chickens were nice to each other. They also did not have a “star performer chicken”. A star perfomer is basically the chicken that produces the most eggs and makes a big deal out of it. The star performers also tend to be more aggressive. This makes a healthy environment for the chickens to thrive and produce eggs. At the end of one year, these chickens were healthy looking and productive.

On the other hand, there were the red zone chickens. They were aggressive and there was a star performer, only the star performer was good because it broke all the other chickens’ eggs. At the end of the year, these violent chickens had dramatically less eggs, and less chicken. These chickens ended up murdering each other because of the hostile environment.

This just shows even being aggressive or thin-skinned can even cause conflicts within chickens. Being defensive in people can cause other people to become defensive as well, like a chain reaction. One key of being less defensive is recognizing the signs before it happens. Jim Tamm suggests that people come up with a counter plan to stop it before it even shows.

Why the Violet Robot Thingy is not going to work (idk yolo)

I think the idea of a robot healing a COVID-19 patient is pretty useless. I say that because it is completely unreasonable for every patient to have a robot at their side because it would cost billions of dollars. There are many things that can go wrong with this invention. For example if it was not effective, but was in mass production, it would be a waste of money. Another example is even if it did work, I doubt the country can have one robot for the ever increasing amount of COVID-19 patients. Another risk these robots have is their use of UV Radiation. Just find a vaccine for the love of God.

My take on the TedX Talk by Amy Morin

There are a few things I have learned from watching this TedX Talk by Amy Morin. This speech is a motivational speech on how to become mentally strong. Although the goal is to become mentally strong, there are three different thoughts that can hold you back.

The first one is unhealthy beliefs about ourselves. This essentiallty means not being able to move on from a problem. Being stuck on a difficulty without moving on can make people depressed, stressed, and basically any bad mental state. Not just that, there will most likely be more adversities coming, so if you don’t get past your current one, more bad thoughts and stress may occur.

The second one is unhealthy beliefs about others. This is when you let other people take advantage of you. This may be good because you are submissive, but sometimes you can be oversubmissive, this means you rely on what others think about you. Most of the time, people do not think good things about you, and this can drag you down if you think about it too much.

The third and final thought that holds you back is unhealthy thoughts towards the world. Often times, good deeds are not rewarded. There is no such thing as Karma. Blaming the world for things that happen to you is not going to benefit you. Sometimes expecting more than you deserve can lead to disappointment.

In conclsuion to all of this, the secret to becoming mentally strong is to get rid of these bad mental habits. Of course, easier said than done. But if people can take time, this may be the solution. Needless to say, getting rid of bad mental habits may not be easy for everyone because it needs patience, because not many people have it.

Red Chief thingy (is this the right place??)

The Ransom of the Red Chief is a story about two idiotic criminals who attempt making money from a kidnapping ransom. These two idiots, Sam and Bill, attempt to kidnap a 10 year old kid named Johnny Dorset, instead the plan goes wrong and the two men end up paying Johnny Dorset’s father $250. This shows the importance of not being so dumb and absent minded, but actually planning ahead. If you are going to kidnap a 10 year old, you might as well do it right and not make a fool of yourself. Coming up with a plan can prevent many stupid mishaps from happening, and make you seem more smart.
