The Ransom of the Red Chief is a short story written by O. Harry, it talks about how a pair of kidnappers, Bill and Sam, kidnapped a citizen’s son. The kidnapped son then pretends to be Red Chief, even attacking Bill. The Red Chief doesn’t like his house, he loves camping and isn’t afraid to be with Sam and Bill. Sam sends Red Chief’s9 dad an ransom note, demanding 2000 dollars in return for Red Chief. The man who receives the letter, however, knows that his son is a burden and a nuisance. He knows that Red Chief must be driving Sam and Bill insane. He says he will take Red Chief off Bill and Sam’s hands for 250 dollars. Bill and Sam are reluctant, but are forced to do this due to insanity.
