Violet, the robot that can possible defeat COVID

COVID is a major problem around the world with people thinking about a cure for it. COVID-19 is not just any virus, it’s one that is unlike any other because when you are diagnosed, you don’t show any symptoms. a virus like this could be deadly because you might pass it around when you are in public. There was no cure until a robot, name Violet, came by.

Conor McGinn is a robotic engineer that made a robot, called Stevie, to bring entertainment to people. This robot can help with elderly because they usually have their spouses away or their family relatives busy, so having this robot can bring happiness to them.

Mr. McGinn and his team decided to make Stevie into a robot that would cure COVID. Mr. McGinn and his staff decided to pay a visit to a doctor that studies microbiology. They wondered whether it was possible to use ultra-violet light to kill pathogens without harming staff in the residential areas.

Mr. McGinn and his staff realized it was possible for making the robot! So, they made Violet. Violet, has been designed to be fit in compacted spaces, like bathrooms. It also has a shield on its back to be avoided while its working. Violet has been a great invention and has possibly saved many lives from being infected. Cleaning the compacted spaces humans can’t reach is very useful for the dirty environment. Hopefully, more of these types of robots can be made.

Coronavirus Robot

Trinity’s Robotics and Innovation Lab are making a robot that can help disinfect areas that could potentially be infected with COVID-19. The robot, whose name is Violet, uses UV-C light to disinfect. UV-C light causes DNA to change or cut up genetic material. Viruses have DNA, and UV-C causes the virus to cut itself up. Then the virus dies because it doesn’t have the capabilities to repair itself.

Violet is going to help combat coronavirus by a lot. Robots are usually made for tasks that are too boring or dangerous for humans to do. Disinfecting places is one of the things that robots excel at. This robot will make the areas it’s used in a lot safer, because it cleans everywhere. A human might miss a few spots, and someone could get sick. Violet cleans perfectly, reducing the risk of someone catching COVID-19.

Other companies all over the world are developing disinfectant robots too. This is a huge step towards fighting the coronavirus. Before the pandemic, many places’ cleaning methods weren’t very efficient. Soon, we will have robots that clean places perfectly, disinfecting places humans have a hard time cleaning.

This robot could also save many lives. A lot of people are dying from refusing to go to hospitals when they have an injury or sick, out of fear that they might catch COVID-19. Disinfecting robots could be deployed at hospitals, making people feel safer, so they will go to a hospital when they have a problem.

A Simple Proposal

As the human population and poverty increases, how should it be dealt with? A Modest Proposal by Dr. Jonathan Swift suggests that they eat the children so there will be more food, money, and less poverty. Obviously, eating children isn’t an option that anyone should consider.

For overpopulation, people could be encouraged to not have more than a certain number of children. Birth control and other methods should also be more available and cheaper. Another idea is for people to be more spread out. Instead of having big cities and rural areas, have a constant suburban area. This could prevent large densities of people in areas and will also save space as big cities won’t continually want to expand. For people in poverty, the government should provide for them. Give each person a specific amount of money so they can have a house, clothe, food, etc. There can also be constant fundraisers for people in need.

There are many ways that problems in the world could be fixed but everyone needs to work together. Overall, if everyone decided to help one another, the community would be much better.

How Should We View Human Life

How should we view human life. Is it considered priceless, does it depend on how old you are, or can it have a price on it. When Ireland was in an economic depression Jonathan Swift decided to propose that people should sell their children for food since everyone was hungry. He made it seem as if he viewed human life as livestock. He compares the remaining children (those who weren’t eaten) to livestock.

He says that they should sell an infant carcass for 10 shillings which is technically 8 more shillings than the cost of the infant. He even goes as far as to suggest “the carcass; the skin of which, artificially dressed, will make admirable gloves for ladies, and summer boots for fine gentlemen.” meaning that he wanted to sell children skin for clothes.

Now the last part of it was cannibalism. This was the last part that was morally wrong. Cannibalism is weird because we are told it is weird. If you really think about it we eat meat which used to be alive and if you weren’t told it was human meat you may not have minded.

In conclusion this proposal of Jonathan’s was a quite twisted idea in that he was willing to sell children for food. Now his idea wasn’t all that bad since it would give money to the poor and give food to the rich. his idea may have been fine but the execution and cannibalism made it very dark.

Why Kids/Teens Should Communicate With Their Parents.

Today many kids and teens have bad relationships with their parents. Often times when they have a problem that the they can’t solve (in life), kids/teens often would first talk to their friends and even their teachers rather then their parents. This is all because kids/teens and parents would not communicate with each other. This also causes many problems and misunderstanding.

Kids/teens should communicate with their parents because this way they could have a closer relationship. Now days because of phones and other electronics, people have less and lesser time to communicate with each other. Though communicating is a important job in many places. For example a hospital, you have to make sure your doctor know what is wrong with you so he/she could help you. communicating with parents could mean that parents could help with the problems that they can’t solve. But if they don’t communicate, its hard to have any topics to talk about, and the relationship between the parents and children would be more far.

Another reason why kids/teens should communicate with their parents is because this could solve many problems and misunderstanding. Because not communicating with kids/teens, parents often have many misunderstandings about them, which causes many problems. These misunderstandings could be like when doing a project of coloring, parents might think that this is not learning. Communicating could help solve these problems.

There are two reasons why kids and teens should communicate with their parents. One is communicating helps make their relations closer. And second is because this could solve the misunderstandings and problems. Even if the children doesn’t like to talk with their parents, parents should still try to talk with them. Talking would help children a lot, especially if they are young.

Why is Cannibalism Bad

Cannibalism is the act of consuming the flesh of one’s own species. Although many people get disgusted at the thought of eating another human being, this occurs in many species and has been a part of human culture for thousands of years. However, cannibalism is very unhealthy and harmful to a human, so it is best that it is avoided at all costs.

There are many health dangers of cannibalism. Eating another human can cause prion diseases, which are associated with misfolded proteins called prion protein. Prion diseases can cause brain damage, difficulty sleeping, make human prion protein develop abnormally, and much more. Also, if someone eats another person who died of a disease, it can spread to the consumers. This can cause many people to get infected by the dead person’s germs, viruses, prions, parasites, etc. So, there is a good chance that the people will catch some kind of disease or prion.

However some may argue that in extreme situations, cannibalism has made it possible for some to stay alive instead of starving to death. They might say that if it does not include murder, there is really no reason for everyone to starve, since a dead body is of no use to its former owner. Nevertheless, eating another person will still be able to kill the consumer, since there are many diseases that come with the dead body. In the end, the cannibal will still die or be at the brink of death either way.

Cannibalism is not great for humans. Eating another person causes prion diseases, which is very harmful to ones health. The dead body can also carry a lot of diseases and viruses that can spread to other people. Although cannibalism can keep some people from starving, their health will still be at risk either way.

Violet the Robot

In the article, “Meet Violet, the Robot That Can Kill the COVID-19 Virus,” it talks about robots helping the people during the coronavirus. The pandemic has killed thousands, made millions of people sick, and forced even more to deal craziness of closures and lockdowns. Stevie, who is a 4-foot 7-inch tall robot whose function is to cure loneliness. It has been programmed to tell stories, call bingo numbers, lead sing-alongs, and other activities.

The engineers have also worked closely with staff to understand what other functions could be added to the robot to boost patients’ safety. A long time before the virus started, the team had already started exploring whether Stevie might be able to cure infections too. They have been talking about whether it’s possible to use an ultraviolet light feature that can be powerful enough to kill harmful germs, but safe to be used by people. Ultraviolet lights between 200 and 280 nanometers, or UVC light, causes DNA to either change shape, or act like molecular scissors.

The Stevie robot already had sensors allowing it to navigate and stop by itself when it detects a person. A light source that automatically shuts down when it detects a motion nearby could be a useful feature. Then, when they confirmed the first case in the country, the team had data on how effective UVC light was, and knew how to make a lightweight, nimble robot that could move around humans in a busy places. Akara has focused on making Violet compact enough to be able to work in crowded spaces that are hard to clean; bathrooms, waiting areas, and small places in public transit.

The team recently tested the robot. It typically takes a person 15 minutes to clean the room with wipes and then another 30 to 60 minutes for the chemicals to dry, which means that the room can only take care of about one patient an hour. Violet has been able to get the job done in 15 minutes, which is way faster. Akara is now looking to raise money to build an even more advanced prototype that can be tested in different settings.

A Modest Proposal

A Modest Proposal by Dr. Jonathon Swift concerns the problem of poverty in Ireland. Dr. Swift suggests that the rich should eat children, as it is beneficial. He says that people will get more food this way, and will also need to spend less money.

This is wicked and cruel. Even if it is beneficial, humankind should never stoop so low as to eating their own kind! In his own writing, Dr. Swift says that he does not want to do this himself. If he himself does not want to follow up on his own idea, why should others? Also, the audience must take into account the author’s social status. If he is part of the upper class, then he would just be saying all this just to benefit his own class.

If the Irish eat all the children, they would be bringing down destruction on themselves. For example, if all of the young children were eaten, there would be no more young people to grow up and start a new generation, which, over time, means the extinction of the Irish.

Because of moral principles and possible extinction, Dr. Johnathon Swift’s “modest” proposal will not bring any long-lasting positive effects, and should not be attempted.

Is Violet really useful? Or can it harm humans too?

Violet is a robot who kills Covid-19. It was based off of Stevie, a robot who helped take care of old people. Violet is equipped with an Ultraviolet light, which “causes DNA either to change shape, or acts like molecular scissors,” (says Beckett, a postdoctoral research fellow in Trinity’s microbiology department). So basically, it kills viruses. It makes little nicks and dents on cells, and while complex organisms and bacteria can repair the nicks and dents, viruses can’t. So why isn’t Ultraviolet light everywhere? Well, it “can also cause sunburn and the cell mutations that lead to skin cancer,” (Meet Violet, the Robot That Can Kill the COVID-19 Virus) so it is used in rooms that don’t have people, so it can’t be used in places like waiting rooms, where there are people. But is violet good, or bad?

Violet can disinfect things very quickly, up to 4 times faster than a person, which takes around an hour to disinfect a room with Covid-19, but it only takes violet around 15 minutes. Violet is useful for working and disinfecting on the front lines, but there is still the risk that it can damage a human. So, the builders of Violet installed motion sensors that would stop Violet if they sense motion, and a protective shield on the back of the light. Violet is currently working very well, disinfecting the rooms in 15 minutes, instead of the old method that takes 1 hour, but are it’s motion sensors and shields enough?

Even though complex organisms like humans can repair their cells if they are damaged by Ultraviolet light, if they are frequently exposed to it, Ultraviolet light could the cell mutations that lead to cause skin cancer. So even though Violet has motion sensors, and a protective shield, it takes a moment for the motion sensor to sense motion, and turn off the light, so what if a doctor is frequently exposed to bursts of the light? Well, then it might cause skin cancer. So while Violet has precautions that try to protect people from the UV light, scientists and researchers are still trying to think of ways to further protect people from Violet’s UV light, and when they are done, then Violet may become a well-used robot that everybody uses, and it will be disinfecting everywhere, from grocery stores to hospitals.

Summary and Message of “A Modest Proposal”

Summary

‘A Modest Proposal,’ begins by complaining about the sad fate of the extremely poor Irish who have to spend all their time trying to feed their large families. As a solution to the poverty in which these families are forced to live, by virtue of having so many mouths to feed, Swift suggests that these poor Irish families should sell their children to the rich English land owners.

He continues by arguing that children could be sold into a meat market as early as the age of one, giving poor families some critical cash, while sparing them the expenses of raising so many children. With 100,000 Irish children out of the population, his solution, he reasons, will also help to resolve the issues of overpopulation and unemployment in Ireland, giving the Irish economy a good boost.

‘A Modest Proposal’ ends with the argument that the practice of selling and eating children will have positive effects on Irish family morality: husbands will treat their wives with more better, and parents will value their children more. His proposal, he argues, will, if implemented, do more to solve Ireland’s complex. financial problems.

Message

I think, the Swift proposes that the country ameliorate poverty in Ireland by butchering the children of the Irish poor and selling them as food to wealthy people. Jonathan Swift’s ‘A Modest Proposal’ is a satirical essay meant to underline the problems of both the English and the Irish. Swift’s proposal more of a fierce comment on England’s exploitation of Ireland.
