Bats are usually not very aggressive against people, since healthy bats try to avoid humans as much as they can. Although most bats are not very hostile, they are still very deadly to humans. This is not because they’re set on sucking your blood, which is what people usually think, but instead, it’s because bats contain many viruses that has the potential to cause serious diseases in people.

Unlike many other animals, bats are able to carry many viruses that can be deadly to other creatures. This is due to their high immune system they have built up from being the world’s only flying mammal. Bats have evolved a remarkably efficient immune system to limit inflammation. Also to counter a bat’s immune defenses, the viruses inside this mammal has gotten good at spreading rapidly from cell to cell. This means that when the virus gets into animals without a similarly strong immune system, they are able to cause serious damage. COVID-19 is an example of a virus originating from bats that is causing harm to many humans, showing that bats can be very deadly due to the viruses they carry.

Although one may say that bats would usually flee when they encounter a human, this does not mean that they are not threatening to people’s lives. The viruses inside a bat can still spread by other ways. For example, local people from Myanmar collect bat droppings for fertilizer. These bat droppings could also be a major source of viral transmission, spreading viruses to many humans.

This shows that bats can be very dangerous to humans and many other animals. They have a lot of viruses inside of them that can be very deadly to other animals. Even if a bat is not aggressive to humans, they are still spreading deadly diseases that can be very harmful to people.

The story “A Good Man Is Hard to Find” is a story were basically everyone is not a “good man.” Every character has it’s faults, some more than others.

In the story, there is a family who is going to move to Florida. The Grandma reads that there is a criminal also heading there which is the first sign of foreshadowing. Then, when they head toward Tennessee, they stop at a restaurant where the owner tells them good men are hard to find. This is the second sign of foreshadowing. When they come out, they meet three men with guns that look dangerous. Everyone is terrified of them. At this time, when Grandma and The Misfit are alone, they’re behaviors are very different. Grandma starts chanting to God but doesn’t really say a prayer. It seems that Grandma is a kind of person who depends on God by just chanting his name and hoping something will miraculously happen like what Jesus did. The Misfit is the complete opposite because when Grandma asks about God, the Misfit says that he doesn’t need God and that Jesus won’t start performing miracles again. In the end, God doesn’t perform the miracles Grandma was hoping for and she and the children all die.

Another thing is that this whole family is very separated. The children are obnoxious, Bailey is disrespectful to Grandma, and Grandma is always trying to take control. This family is not exactly made up of “good men.” The Misfit is an even worse man considering that he killed many people and is a runaway criminal. This story is an example that good men are actually very hard to find.

Finding diseases from bats is harder than you might think. The researchers have to go out at night all in suits that covered them from head to toe. They would find a cave and set up a net to catch bats and a tarp on the floor to get guano, the droppings.

The researchers from Smithsonian’s Global Health Program found 6 new coronaviruses in the same family of viruses as the COVID-19. Though they do not think these new viruses to be harmful to humans or closely related to COVID-19.

Zoonotic pathogens, a germ that can spread from animals to humans or vice versa, are responsible for 3/4 of the infectious diseases in humans this century. A major source of these diseases are bats. Bats have a very strong immune system so they can host pathogens without getting infected. this together with their ability to fly far distances makes them very good at transmitting these diseases to humans. When humans pass on a virus, the bat could start spreading it everywhere.

In one cave they studied, Myanmar, Linno Cave, had more than half a million bats. Some times, tourists would come at night to see all the bats fly out of the cave, and others would collect the droppings for fertilizers for their gardens. They tested 464 bats and collected 759 samples. 48 of them had coronavirus and found 7 coronaviruses, 6 of them were unknown to the researchers.

Now that I think about it, finding new diseases is important because if we know about it we can find a cure and not have to get quarantined again.

In “A good man is hard to find” by Flannery O’Connor, there was a family that only cared about them selfs. So in the end, they got what they deserved. People are made selfish, but you can always change your actions and work towards being unselfish. There are somethings that you can do to work towards that goal.

First of all, Always listen to other people’s opinions when you want something different. For example, if one of your family members wants to go into one restaurant for you want to go to the other for lunch you can listen to their opinion and try to maybe persuade them. But do not lie or do something really bad just to support your own opinion, like the grandma in the book.

Second, when people say their opinions think deeply about it and don’t just go ahead and make a statement just because your opinion is different from them. You have to think about if they’re right or why do they think that way and listen to their reasoning carefully.

Lastly whenever you’re about to say something is sure just think about other people such as don’t exaggerate when talking about something important.

At the end that is what you have to do to not get your self into trouble like the grandma in the book.

In “A Good Man is Hard to Find,” the Grandma is a very selfish person and does not think about her actions.  The Misfit, on the other hand, is a very thoughtful person and cares and at the same time does not care about people.  If the Grandma was thoughtful and not selfish, her family and her would not have been killed by the Misfit.  Honestly, both characters are quite bad, but only the Misfit actually has a good part about his personality.  

Marco Polo is considered the greatest explorer according to a YouTube video posted by Biographics. Marco Polo was considered a liar, it was hundreds of years until everyone found out every story he told was true.

Marco Polo grew up in a family of merchants. Most thought Marco would join the family business. Unlike most job professions, being a merchant expected to leave home for years at a time. At the time of Marco, merchants claimed they had seen monsters straight out of a nightmare. Human-dog hybrids, fire breathing dragons, and unicorns.

Marco polo travelled to China in search of gold and spices. He and his dad, Niccolo Marco, found themselves ushered into China, at the heart of the Mongolian empire. The leader, Kublai Khan, were fascinated that Marco could speak so many different languages. Kublai sent Marco home to meet with the pope, where he would bring back 100 priests to the Mongolian empire.

Marco Polo and Niccolo returned to China on foot. They pasted the Gobi desert where many people have perished. They returned to find a feast thrown for them, where they could have unlimited drinks. After the Khan had passed away, Marco Polo had to return home. Since they were foreigners and not official citizens of the empire, they didn’t have the same rights as those who were official citizens.

When they went back to Italy, they took a boat. During the war, Marco was arrested and the government illegally seized most of his wealth. Marco was able to hide a few of his gems. He was lucky his books became a best seller, or he might have become broke. Some people congratulated him on his success while others accused him of being a liar. That is his story.

In the story A good man is hard to find the grandma is a pretty selfish and she only really thinks about herself. In the beginning of the short story she insists that the family shouldn’t go to Florida even though it had been established that they were going. She just makes excuses so that they don’t go.

They eventually go and on the road trip the grandma remembers a house that had a secret when she was young. The family decides to take a detour and goes to this house. When they start to go she realizes the house was in Tennessee and not Georgia. She doesn’t say anything and just let’s the dad drive. Then all of a sudden the car flips over.

Then, the misfit arrives. He was a very bad criminal that escaped jail and was on the run. The grandma recognizes him and points it out. He now has to kill them because if he doesn’t he knows the family will turn him in. So he has his “helpers” take the rest of the family to the woods and has them kill the family first. Then the grandma tries to convince the misfit to change but fails and dies to.

If the grandma wasn’t so selfish and arrogant the family may have survived. If she had just told them that the house was in Tennessee maybe they wouldn’t have flipped over and met the misfit. If she didn’t point out it was him they might have survived. If the grandma had acted differently the family would have survived.

I have many thoughts on the short story, A Good Man is Hard to Find. I like some parts and don’t like some parts.

The first thing I liked about the story is that it describes what each of the characters are like. One example is how the the story says the grandma is always trying to get what she wants even if the others don’t want it. So by this we can tell that the grandma is selfish. The second thing I liked about the story is that it was kind of creepy. The reason I think this is because the family is going on a vacation and based on the stories we have been reading for the last few days something bad related to guns is going to happen.

The reason I don’t like the story is because it was a bit easy to predict what was going to happen in the end. I think this because the story was always talking about the bandit so it was kind of easy to see that he was going to come.

These are my thoughts on the short story , A Good Man is Hard to Find by O’Connor.

COVID-19 has been very scary lately. People around the world are very scared of this outbreak. All thanks to doctors and nurses for their help. 

Coronaviruses were made by bats. Even though doctors and scientists are trying to find a cure for the Coronaviruses. They are also trying to find out more diseases from the bats. Surprisingly scientists found SIX more diseases in bats!!! What a lot of diseases in one animal.

A while ago SARS and MERS was also a huge breakout but not as bad as COVID-19. It was true that SARS and MERS were also made by bats. It is still super dangerous because testing for positive still is a very high chance. People need more lockdowns and less areas open.

Even though they found six more diseases, it doesn’t mean that they are no more. Finding diseases is no easy task. Preparing is very very important. They need to set up traps so that the bats get caught and after that is done they bring the bats back to their office and start getting the “saliva”. They do this because they know which bat has Coronavirus.

Diseases are no fun. We all need to fight till it is over. A quote from MLK ““If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.”-MLK 

Marco Polo wasn’t lying. Marco wasn’t lying even though he wrote that he was healed by mountains in China that were said to have magic healing powers. Marco also wrote in his journal that he went into Tibet and the parents wanted their daughters to have sex with as many men as possible before they marry so they can prove how desirable wives they could be. Though it wasn’t exactly 100% accurate, it’s based on a real custom.

One of the reasons people in Europe thought he was lying when he wasn’t was because they just couldn’t stand that China was so much better than they were so they said that Marco was lying. Marco said that when he saw Khan’s palace, he said it was like he died and went into heaven and Europeans just couldn’t put their minds around the fact they were not like that. Once they heard China was better, they decided to change the story and said the Tipet parents doing that to

Now, recent studies from scientists have proven most of it accurate. So you can trust the scientists can’t you. These are the reasons why Marco Polo wasn’t lying.
