I Have a Dream

Martin Luther King’s speech ‘I Have a Dream’ talks about how everyone in the world is equal. A long time before, not everyone was equal like today. People are judged by their skin color, black people aren’t allowed to use the same things other people uses. Black people are banned from some shops and restaurants, they even can’t use the same drinking fountain. Now lots of years passed, did Martin Luther King’s dream come true? I think it did, because most people stoped the way they judged people by their skin color.

People now days do change their way of looking at other people. Before people changed how they judged people, black people aren’t allowed to go to the same school. Now, no matter what religion or what skin color, kids all go to the same school and learn together. Some restaurants before had the label of white only so black people can’t go in. But today people could go to any restaurants they would like, there are not more white only. Even though there are still people that think some people are born to have a higher class then other people. Most people already accepted that all people are born equal.

Martin Luther King’s dream I would like to say that is accomplished. Even though some people still have their ideas, but most people change their believes and thinks everyone is born equal. People are mostly treated the same way and they are not judged by their skin color.

the effect of the I Have a dream speech

On August 28, 1963, during the march for jobs and freedom, MLK delivered his I Have A Dream speech. It is one of the most famous speeches of all time. The purpose of his and many other speeches was to gain freedom for African Americans.
Many people all over the United States supported this major event. Martin Luther King´s speech played a very important role in the signing of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Later, his speech helped the signing of the Voting Rights Act of 1965. Kennedy was happy about the speech because he hoped all the other politicians would approve the act. Although MLK was assained, his speech is one of the most powerful ones. Thanks to his speech and many others, African Americans now have the same rights as all the other Americans.
These are the effects of the I Have A Dream speech. All the African Americans in the USA have the same rights as the rest of USA.

My Thoughts on “I Have a Dream MLK”

I Have a Dream is a video about MLK’s speech during the March on Washington. The video is black and white, so I think that it actually is from 1963. MLK keeps on saying “I have a dream”, I think it was because he wants make sure everyone gets his point, that he has a dream that there will not be segregation and racism. I feel like this is actually a good strategy, just incase people don’t get why he is protesting for. At the end, he says that he wants freedom to ring from New Hampshire, New York, P.A., Colorado, California, Georgia, Tennessee, and Mississippi.

Glaciers Melting

According to satellites in space, ice sheets in Greenland and Antarctica are losing so much mass that it has been seen from space. 200 gigatons are lost every year in Greenland and 118 gigatons are lost every year in Antarctica. A gigaton is equivalent to fill 400,000 Olympic sized pools. 0.55 inches were added to sea level from 2003 to 2019. By this rate, many people living close to these places are at stake of losing their homes forever due to flooding.

Global Warming has caused many problems and without fixing it, many organisms that thrive in cold places will have harder lives. Humans will have to evacuate soon due to possible flooding in the future by sea level rising and animals will have a harder time. An example of what is going on with animals in Antarctica are penguins. Chicks would go out to practice swimming in the ocean. While they’re doing their thing, sometimes seals come and hunt for them. The chicks would need to escape, but with the large chunks of ice floating in the water, they cannot escape properly. These large chunks of ice are caused by global warming because they have slowly melted which causes chunks to form. people in the world need to take care of the environment and ecosystem for the world to thrive. Without care, life on Earth will start to decline.

Uncle Willy

In this story, the main character is a boy, who lives near a man everyone calls Uncle Willy. Uncle Willy is an eccentric man who runs a shop and gives out free ice cream to the children. He is also addicted to dope, an addictive drug. Some other people intervene with his drug addiction, and he runs away with the main character. One of the themes in this story is to think before you act.

One reason a theme is to think before you act is because the main character impulsively ran away with Uncle Willy. He didn’t prepare, or even say goodbye to the townspeople. He disregarded the consequences of running away with a strange man he didn’t know very well. He got caught up in the heat of the moment and didn’t step back and think about what he was about to do. His life at home wasn’t even that bad either, he just acted without thinking.

Another reason a theme in this story is to think before you act is because Uncle Willy changed negatively. He didn’t think before he took drugs, and he became addicted to them. Even though he had a reason to live the town, he didn’t have a good reason to bring the main character with him. He could have not told the main character he was leaving, and left by himself. He didn’t stop to think about how running away could affect the main character’s life.

The last reason a theme in this story is to think before you act is because the townspeople took away Uncle Willy’s drugs too abruptly. Even though they did it with good intentions, Uncle Willy had a withdrawal, and got really sick. The townspeople fixed one of Uncle Willy’s problems, but caused another one. This was probably a reason he left the town, which indirectly affected the main character.

Why Melting Ice is no Small Matter

Using scans from satellites, scientists have found that ice on the coasts of Greenland and Antarctica are melting drastically. The water rose a total of 14mm, the putting it on the worse warming crisis so far. If this persists, the water levels will be a threat for coastal homes and structures.

This is not good for the Earth and people at all, because this is putting lives at risk. Switching to more eco-friendly energy production means can slow the melting of the ice sheets. One can realize that this is important because when ice shelves melt, they are exposing grounded ice, making them melt much faster.

Even though the report from the scientists is still short and brief, it is just beginning. It can teach many people about the damage that we are all doing to the environment.

Uncle Willy by William Faulkner

Uncle Willy by William Faulkner is about a young kid who runs away with a crazy old man that everyone calls Uncle Willy. Uncle Willy is a drug addicted eccentric man who is popular with the kids since they think he’s cool. The church tries to keep him off of drugs so he runs away with a kid and ends up dying in a plane crash. The young boy who runs away feels very betrayed by Uncle Willy’s assistant Job who calls their old town to come where they are and when Uncle Willy runs away he crashes the plane and dies.

Willy isn’t sad about the death of Uncle Willy, he feels betrayed by Job and how no one understands why he liked and looked up to Uncle Willy. He cries while they were going home not because Uncle Willy died but because someone in their group betrayed them and how now no one will understand why everyone looked up to him. He thought that he was a fun loving man whose ideals, which were doing whatever was fun, made it so that he didn’t fear death which made it seem like he couldn’t die.

Willy feels super betrayed by Job since he seemed very loyal working for Willy for such a long time. From Jobs perspective he was trying to save Uncle Willy’s life, Uncle Willy was in danger but in the kids eyes he didn’t care about death, he only cared about having fun. So the death part didn’t bother anyone except Job.

In conclusion all the kids look up to him since he is so carefree and looks looks he has a fun life when in reality his life is ruined and he doesn’t realize it yet. He does’t fear death and only cares about having fun in life which is proved when he runs away and does drugs.

Uncle Willy by William Faulkner

First of all, I think that this story is unusual and weird because after I read it, I didn’t even get what the plot of the story is.

Second, I don’t like this story and I think that all the events are weird. This story is very confusing and when I read it, I almost fell asleep. It’s so boring.

If you don’t know what this story is about, it’s basically about this guy named Willy, but some call him Uncle Willy. There are some townsfolk who try to get rid of his addiction to drugs.

I was pretty confused at the end where I think he tried to fly a plane, and I think he died.

Overall, I didn’t enjoy this story and I don’t want to read this kind of writing in the future.

The Dangers of Global Warming

The future is something everyone looks forward too and wants to live in. Imagine the amazing top-notch technology and gadgets available for usage. The hoverboards from back to the future and those super cool AR headsets would become humanity’s reality. At first, the future seems wonderful, but many new dangers are emerging. The article New satellite maps show dire state of ice melt in Antarctica and Greenland highlights the damage of global warming to the planet of mankind. Global warming is a major threat because it can flood homes and introduce prehistoric diseases.

The article states in the span of just 16 years, from 2003 to 2019, Greenland lost 200 gigatons of ice sheets and Antarctica lost 118 gigatons of ice sheets on average each year. To put this into perspective, one gigaton of ice can fill a whopping 400,000 Olympic swimming pools. In total, Greenland and Antarctica lost 5088 gigatons of ice. These two bodies of ice alone caused the sea level to rise by 0.55 inches. 0.55 inches over a span of 16 years might not seem like a lot, but note that 2003-2019 is nowhere near humanity’s peak of bringing greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. In the future, humanity’s greenhouse gas expulsion rate will continue to increase. A study in 2019 concluded that by 2020, the low estimate of sea-level rise will be 11 inches. The high estimate is approximately 27 inches. Many cities living on sea level will be flooded, leaving a myriad homeless. When flooding homes are combined with the threat of overpopulation, these forces can work together to cause destruction. The article states that in the future, hundreds of millions of lives are at stake to due sea level rise. If mankind does not take the step to stop global warming, our future could be extremely dreadful.

The introduction of emerging infectious diseases is another major threat of global warming. As the ice caps melt, diseases that have been frozen for millions of years can be released into the air. Since the first modern humans have only been around for 200,000 years ago, nobody will have immunity to prehistoric diseases that have been dormant for millions of years. Today a novel virus, known as COVID-19, spreads globally, infecting millions of people. Since the year this disease emerged is only 2019, ice caps have been melting relatively little. In a few decades, the increased melting of ice caps could introduce humanity-threatening diseases every year. The daily life of a human could simply become quarantine. Going outside is a risk, being near people is a risk, and the only way to survive is to stay home. In the Yamal Peninsula during August 2016, the melting of ice caps started an Anthrax outbreak. More than 2,000 deers were infected. Luckily, there is an Anthrax vaccine, so only a few people were infected, but imagine the harm if a new virus such as COVID-19 emerged. This is a future no sane individual wants to experience, and global warming needs to be stopped.

As time passes more and more threats much as global warming introduce themselves. Global warming is a monster that melts ice caps and mercilessly floods the homes of millions of individuals. These melting ice caps can release deadly viruses, waiting millions of years in the frozen ice for their time to strike. Global warming will likely become a cause of humanity’s demise if not taken action upon.

Glaciers Losing Ice

The largest glaciers in the world are losing ice way too fast for us to replenish it. Two satellite images remind us that Earth’s ice sheets are losing so much mass that it’s becoming obvious even from space. In the maps published as part of a study, they show 16 years of ice loss in Greenland and Antarctica as seen by a NASA satellite. The images show rapid melt in both regions, far more than the ice-mass gains.

Greenland lost an average of 200 gigatons of ice per year, while Antarctica lost an average of 118 gigatons per year. One gigaton of ice is enough to fill 400,000 whole Olympic-sized swimming pools. All of the melting ice was about a total 0.55 inches of sea-level rise between 2003-2019. That puts Earth on the track for the worst global warming scenario. This would put hundreds of millions of people living in coastal communities at risk of losing their homes, or even their lives because of flooding.

A new research shows, while the ice shelves have thinned and melted over the last two decades, grounded ice has also became thin and melted. The new analysis shows that the response of these ice sheets to the changes in our climate reveals clues to why and how the ice sheets are melting. That is a good sign because now they partially know that problem for the melting glaciers.
