The Lady, or the Tiger?

In the story, the king has created a new trial for criminals. They enter an arena and choose between two doors. One door has a lady the criminal will marry, and the other is a tiger who will kill the criminal. So there is no justice, the criminals live or die by chance. The king created this method so he and his subjects could have some entertainment.

The princess falls in love with a young man, and the king disapproves of their relationship. So he puts the man in the arena. The princess loves him, but she isn’t the lady behind the door. She knows which door is which and can help the young man survive. She points him to the door on his right. Then the story ends.

If she pointed him towards the door with the tiger, he will die. She will never see him again and lose him forever. If she pointed him towards the door with the lady, he will have to marry the lady and not the princess. The princess will not be able to marry him also, but he will still be alive. Either way, she loses him, but she can save his life.

The Lady or the Tiger

What would you do if you are open to two opinions and both of them would not have a good ending? The short story The Lady or the Tiger by Frank R. Stockton is a story about choosing between to bad choices. There was this king in this kingdom that likes to punish the prisoners to let them choose between two doors. Through one door is a women, if the men opens that door, he is free and has to marry to the women. Through the other door, is a tiger that would kill the person as soon as he comes out. The king has a daughter that likes a men at the lowest class, so the king decides to punish him with his punishment. The princess knows which door leads to which, but the author didn’t say which one she lead the men to. I think the princess would lead the men to the women’s door. This is because as long as the men is still living, they could still think of other ideas. And because even if the princess doesn’t like that the men is getting someone else as his bride, she should also save someone’s life.

Why the princess should lead the men to the women’s door is because as long as he is still living, they could still think of other ideas. If the men is still living, he and the princess could think of other ideas to be together. For example, they could help the women find someone else to marry to and run away together. Or they could talk to the king later on and make him change his min, even though it has a really small possibility. Even though the princess won’t want the men to die, she should still save him. This is because if she didn’t save him, the princess is kind of another person that killed him. Plus, if the men died, won’t the princess be sad since it’s her love.

These reasons cause me to think that the princess would save the men and lead him to the door to the women. The princess would still want him to live rather then dying. Rather then knowing to kill him, I think the princess would like to make him live longer and think of other ideas. As long as he is living, the men and the princess could also talk to the king about his way of punishing.

A Hard Decision

A long time ago, in a city rules by a barbaric king, there was a princess. In the kingdom, when someone goes to trial, they are presented two doors, one with a tiger, and one with a lady. Depending on which door the accused chooses, it determines if he is guilty or not. If it is the tiger, he will be killed. If it is the lady, the man will marry her as a reward.

The princess had fallen in love and everything was going fine. However, the king found out about the affair and he made the man go to trial. The princess managed to find out which door had which person/animal and the man was depending on her to tell him.

The princess also knew the woman behind the safe door. She knew that she liked the man and would happily marry him if he chose the right door.

The princess needs to think if she loves the man enough to save him or if she will get so jealous that she should lead him to his doom. She probably thinks that if the man opens the door with the woman, she will not be able to handle it and will be sad forever. However, if she leads the man to the door with the tiger, she will never see him again and she will feel guilty.

In the end, she points to the door on the right. The author tells us to think about what she would have chosen: for her lover to die or to be married with another woman. I think that she would choose the door with the tiger. The author already tells us that she and her father are semi-barbaric. She will MOST LIKELY be selfish in this case rather than to be jealous and miserable. We do not know what she chose to lead the man to but this is what I think that she is thinking.

Beethoven is Underappreciated

Imagine enjoying music a lot but suddenly have your hearing taken away! This is what happened to Ludwig van Beethoven, a famous composer who lived in the 1700s-1800s. He created many pieces that musicians play today but many people also don’t care.

If you’re a musician, then you’ve probably heard of Beethoven. His music is very unique as it doesn’t follow the “rules” that other composers follow but it still ends up as an extremely good piece. Beethoven was also a child prodigy. He started learning at age 4 and mastered multiple instruments quickly, including piano, organ, and viola. He started losing his hearing in his 20s and this devasted him as it would to anyone with great interest in music. However, he still persisted and wrote great pieces while not being able to hear.

Pieces by Beethoven are a big part of the classical music communities He has many well known pieces that are recognized by a large amount of people and also has pieces that are famous for being extremely hard.

Ludwig van Beethoven is a child prodigy and an extremely talented composer even when he became deaf. This is an incredible accomplishment and he should also be recognized more for being hard-working and talented, not just by classical musicians.

The lady or tiger?

In the story the lady or the tiger there was a cliffhanger where the author asks who the reader thinks is behind the door? In this story there is a tyrant as the king. He is semi-barbaric but has a good side. He is able to entertain his kingdom by making a building that solves problems, the person that is guilty will go into the arena and pick a door to open. One door has a lady that he will marry no matter what. The other door has a tiger that will rip him up in pieces.

In this story the king’s daughter that loves a guy and he loves her too. The king finds out and makes the guy go into the arena. He looks at the princess knowing that she knows which side has the tiger. She tells him to go to the right door. He is going to the right there and done, the author leaves you on a cliff hanger. The author asks if the right door had a tiger or lady.

I think that it was the tiger. In the book the author writes how it might’ve ended if the lady was behind the door. The princess would be extremely sad. She would be super pale and look horrified. I think that this shows that the princess probably didn’t want him to get the lady. I think she would rather have him dead than him marrying another woman.

Nobody knows which one actually came out from the door. I think that the princess would want him to be eaten by the tiger. I think that if it was the lady, then the princess would’ve probably made life miserable for the lady and she would try to get the lady to divorce the man so that she could marry him.

Beethoven’s biography

Beethoven is a musical composer that is said to have music that is confusing and surprising. His music even includes a strong power full of energy. His life was full of ups and downs making it interesting.

Beethoven was born in Germany. His father and grandfather were singers, which made his family a musical one. He started learning piano when he was four-years-old, with his father as the mentor. When he grew older, he became an assistant organist, and also played viola, apart of the violin family, for a Prince’s orchestra. The prince enjoyed it and began to live in a musical environment. Beethoven moved to Vienna when he was 22 to study with Haydn. He thought Hayden was the greatest composer of all time, so having this opportunity for him was like a dream come true. Because of Beethoven’s gifts in playing the piano, he was surrounded by the people of Venice during his career. Beethoven made himself as a famous piano player but wasn’t known of his structure yet. In his twenties, he started to hear large ringing sounds and lose his hearing ability. Beethoven was devastated after understanding the news of becoming deaf. He started thinking about committing suicide, but after thinking more about it, he decided to continue living for music.

Beethoven evolved as a composer, creating more heroic works explaining struggle and revolution in the central part of his life. An example of one of his revolutionary pieces is his third symphony which is dedicated to the leader Napoleon. Beethoven started growing his attitude around this time. He started dressing informally and was very rude towards people. He cared very little about how he looked like. He also didn’t like conversations because of his hearing problems. Some people thought his attitude came out because he didn’t find a spouse yet. He was a stubby man and would often stomp around Vienna, deep in thought. Later, different Princes gave Beethoven a lifetime payment, but only if he stayed in Vienna. He immediately agreed without hesitation and settled there for the rest of his life.

The final years of Beethoven’s life were very hard for him. He was almost completely deaf, adding to that, his attitude and appearance were getting worse. Most of the time during his last years of life, he tried gaining custody of his nephew because his father died. Beethoven wasn’t good with financial things and used up a lot of his money resources battling with his brother’s wife. He eventually lost and lost his ability to lead orchestras. He composed his last songs at this point, which shocked many of those who loved music. He became ill during the last years of his life, with rheumatic fever, and other illnesses. He pushed himself to write the 10th symphony, right after Ode to Joy (9th symphony) but didn’t finish in time. While he was in the process of dying, he couldn’t sleep at night nor drink and was paralyzed. Beethoven, sadly, died after four operations on a stomach wound which eventually got infected. Many mourners went to his funeral to say farewell to the successful composer.

Beethoven can teach people many things according to his actions. For example, he didn’t commit suicide because he thought he would continue living for his passion, music. This lesson may teach others to always live for their dreams because giving up will not do anything. His music has heavily inspired others to play piano, maybe other people will continue to spread positivity around.

Death, Or Somebody You Don’t Love

In the story “The Lady, or the Tiger?” written by Frank R. Stockton, it shows a cruel and somewhat unfair justice system. The accused person would be forced to choose one of the 2 rooms brought in front of him, one with a tiger who would eat him alive, and one with a bride whom the person has to marry. This justice system was really unfair and not only can criminals escape while innocents get killed, but even more like relationships, social status and the well-being of the people could get affected.

First of all, the person who has to choose will either die or marry somebody that they might not necessarily like. However in this trial, an innocent who didn’t commit a crime could end up choosing the tiger, which will lead him to his demise. But a criminal that killed or stole could choose the bride and stay alive. This justice system is based purely on luck and is shouldn’t be referred as a “justice” system, but rather a game of chance that revolves around death and life. This would make many things in society unbalanced and if this “justice” system shall be continued in this land there will be a imbalance of the innocent and the criminals.

Second, if a young person about 19 to 24 was to be in a relationship, but got accused then there will be 2 possibilities. The person might die, or be forced into marriage. The dying part will be simple, he would just die, but if he was to be married, the relationship he had before would basically completely get ruined. This causes conflicts and isn’t really healthy for a good society. Imagine that groups split up just because their sons and daughters weren’t able to marry and hate will stir up. This society would be a mess!

Lastly, the social status of individuals would be messed up. If a peasant or laborer was to marry a high class women, than his status would go up. Even thought this might sound good, it honestly isn’t. If the lower class has to die or marry (which brings them to higher class), then there will be no lower class. That will cause a great disturbance in society, economy and money wouldn’t have the same worth and different jobs will not be maintained. Who would do the labor or handle the farms? The higher class will never do that but, there is no lower class. Everything will be in mayhem and a whole empire will fall, just because of an absurd system.

All in all, the justice system which is shown in “The Lady, or The Tiger” is really absurd and has many downsides other than injustice. I hope to never see this kind of system in our society today and hope that i never will. We learn from this system that justice and rights for the people should be dealt fairly and handled with caution.

The “Justice” in the Lady and the Tiger

In the short story, The Lady and the Tiger, the king of the land has a very interesting law. If you break a law big enough to get the king’s attention, you will be sent in front of two doors, one to death and the other to a bride and marriage. The uniqueness of this story can give the reader some puzzling thoughts.

A reader’s thoughts in the king’s policy could vary. One could think the king is insane or cruel, making an accused’s chances of living a gambling game. Another person might negotiate that it was meant to create fear so less laws would be broken, because nobody would want their life be put at the roll of a dice.

When I read this story, I observe that this strange policy was an interesting base to build the story on. One may think that the author wanted his story to rope the reader in, so he started it on an unusual base, and this was one of the most gripping to start on.

My opinion to ‘The Lady, or the Tiger?’

Imagine walking on the street one day, coming home after you did your errands. Suddenly soldiers barrel towards your direction and they grab your shirt. “We got him!” one yells. The next morning, soldiers order you into a courtroom. They tell you that one door contains a lion that will kill you immediately, and the other door has a woman in which you must marry her instantly. Which door should you open? You either: get married, or get devoured.

‘The Lady, or the Tiger?’ is a short story about a semi-barbaric king, who thinks that an ingenious idea for proving innocence or guilt is to hold this ‘trial’ where the accused have a choice of opening one of the two doors. One door holds a woman in which the accused person has to marry her on the spot, and the other door contains a tiger that will devour you instantly. The king’s daughter really likes a man, and their love goes on until the king figures out. The king immediately locks that man up, and he is to go on the trial. The daughter knows which door holds which, but she hates the woman behind one of doors. She points to a door to let the man know, but, the question is, what came out? The story lets us hanging so we can decide: the lady, or the tiger?

I firmly belive that this type of ‘trial’ is unfair, because you don’t even get to prove yourself innocent. Today, we can always have a chance to call for a lawyer, or even just defend yourselves. Unfortunately, in the story, many people fall victim to the tiger, even when they are innocent. Also, some of the accused are already maried, so even if they open the door with the woman, they still are forced to marry the female, which is really complicated stuff in our days. It’s actually illegal in some countries to do that, because it breaks up both families hearts alike. I dislike the way that the spectators are actually okay with these shocking ‘dramas’, where people either are ripped to bits or in a surprise marriage. They should be not coming to watch with excitement, anticipating whether it’s bloody or cuddly.

To recapitulate, the king’s unfair trial is proof of his barbarity, and such things today should be stopped immediately. The people of the king’s country should be ashamed of themselves, that they won’t stop such actions. The ‘trial’ is, ‘floccinaucinihilipilification’.

My Thoughts on “The Difference Between Mozart and Beethoven.”

The Differences Between Mozart and Beethoven, it lists a lot of differences. Music styles in particular caught my eye. Beethoven had a strong fiery personality, while Mozart had a soft sweet personality. I would prefer Mozart, due to having the soft personality. While Beethoven would kind of be like Rap and Rock, Mozart would be like jazz. Beethoven liked surprises, but Mozart would be a perfectionist. I would like perfectionists more then people who like surprises, so I would give it to Mozart. An comment on the video said, “Mozart’s music is a walk through a garden. Beethoven’s music is when [you] [are] lost in a thick forest.” I totally agree with the comment, I think it makes sense. When you are in a thick forest, you are kind of scared about what comes next, or surprises. Surprises are Beethoven’s personality, so it makes sense. Mozart’s music is like a walk through a garden, very calm and quiet, just like Mozart’s personality. The score is 3-0, Mozart. In my opinion, Mozart is much better then Beethoven.
