The author of the story says that many people don’t have enough food. He then goes to propose an idea that is morally incorrect, very hypocritical, and very illogical.

He proposes that to cure the mass hunger, people should eat the infants. Infants are another mouth to feed and another body to clothe. He says that it is better to eat them instead so it can benefit the adults.

This is incorrect just because it is wrong for humans to eat other humans. They are their own kind and if they eat each other, soon they will be extinct. This is hypocritical because if the author himself was an infant, he definitely would not have proposed this idea. He only suggested it because it would benefit him. This is illogical simply because if nobody is willing to follow through with this idea, it will not happen.

Of course, the author is being sarcastic sometimes during the story. However, the idea of eating other humans that are innocent and are newly born is just not the way to cure hunger.

The short story, A MODEST PROPOSAL by Dr. Jonathan Swift is interesting. I liked some parts and didn’t like some parts.

The thing I liked is how well the tells us how things happen. The reason I think this is because the book tells us how the main character calculates how mutch poor babies there will be. The book says “I calculate there may be about two hundred thousand couple whose wives are breeders; from which number I subtract thirty thousand couple, who are able to maintain their own children, (although I apprehend9
there cannot be so many, under the present distresses of the kingdom) but this being granted, there will remain an hundred and seventy thousand breeders. I again subtract fifty thousand, for those women who miscarry, or whose children die by accident or disease within the year. There only remain an hundred and twenty thousand children of poor parents annually born

The thing I don’t like about the story is that it is really hard to understand. The reason I think this is because it uses a lot of hard vocabulary. some examples of them are, professed, importuning, and sustenance.

This is what I think about the short story, A MODEST PROPOSAL by Dr. Jonathan Swift.

Hundreds of years ago, many poor people in Ireland starved and parents do not have enough money to nurture their children. This problem is severe and needs to be solved as soon as possible. In Jonathon’s Swift ironic piece, “A Modest Proposal,” the narrator suggests that the poor should sell their children for the rich to eat. This way, the poor will no longer have to “waste” money on their children, and the rich will also receive “high-quality” food. Both classes will notice a benefit. Obviously, this is completely non-ethical and just written as a joke. The narrator attempts to convince the reader by using the strategies Logos, Ethos, and Pathos.

Logos is persuasion with logic. Using statistics and logical non-bias reasoning is a powerful strategy in changing someone’s mind. Lines 33-40 in the proposal show a considerable amount of statistics and mathematics being shown. The narrator adds into account the total population, the amount of “breeders”, what percent of babies will be poor, what percent of babies die at birth, and how many people are poor at birth. The writer performs a potpourri of math to conclude that 120,000 children are born into poor families each year. Seeing all of this math is hard to believe, so it is extremely persuasive. Additionally, the writer even highlights the nutritional value of consuming a baby is high and the babies will be cheap. Nobody in the right mind would even attempt to make people sell their children to be eaten. His usage of logos might have persuaded a band of shady insane people, but it is completely ironic when presented to modern society.

Ethos is persuasion with credibility. For example, a source written by a college professor would be much more trustable than a source by a random kindergartener. The writer adds Ethos into the proposal by including the fact that a very well-knowing American informed him that babies taste delicious stewed, roasted, baked, or boiled. The American also suggested putting babies into different dishes, will increase their tastiness. His usage of Ethos is ironic because he gives credibility to a cannibal. The American would have only known what babies taste as if he had eaten them himself. Calling a cannibal well-knowing is far too ironic. The narrator also wrote the proposal in a very formal manner, which is ironic because his excellent grammar does not fit together with his strange ethics.

Pathos is persuasion with emotion. It is one of the most powerful ways to persuade someone because feelings can be extremely deep and meaningful to oneself. The writer used pathos when trying to persuade that eating babies is better than eating the elderly. He suggested that since the elderly are already close to death, there will be no use to eating them. Additionally, he suggests the elderly are less healthy to eat. The death of any individual is devastating, but the usage of it in this situation makes death seem like a joke. Death is the most catastrophic event of one’s life, and making fun of it ironic, especially because it was used as a means of persuasion.

The piece A Modest Proposal takes one along an ironic journey of an insane man attempting to persuade civilized individuals to eat children. His dark usage of logos always ended with terrifying conclusions. He attempted to find credible sources and ended up listening to a cannibal for information. The man also tried persuading the readers by using death as a joke. Logos, Ethos, and Pathos are powerful tools when used correctly, but jokes when used incorrectly.

Recently, due to this COVID-19 pandemic, many scientists are pivoting towards the subject of eliminating the virus, in order for everyday life to return to normal. Scientists are trying their utmost hardest to help those who are in need due to this atrocity done by the virus, with some of them looking for a way to prevent more sicknesses with vaccines, and another portion of them looking for ways to cure those who already are sick. One group of Irish scientists in particular come up with a new invention: Violet.

What exactly is Violet? Violet is an automated bot that disinfects each and every room using UV-C. What exactly is UV-C? UV-C is an ultraviolet that can stop viruses from reproducing. This is very useful because it can limit the amount of viruses, thus it limits the number of people who get infected.

You may be asking: won’t the UV-C light also harm humans? Well, the engineers designed it so that when humans come, the light stops working, so humans won’t be vulnerable to it. After the person leaves, the light would automatically turn on. This is possibly managed using infrared detection. This means that it is not possible for humans to get harmed. This matters because if the robot weren’t programmed this way, we would be damaging those we are supposed to help. This is a quite convenient function because it gets the job done without any additional side effects.

What can this new invention teach us? There are many people in this world that are very creative. If there were a God, we were created because God wanted us to learn and strive. Maybe this pandemic was created in order to help us learn something. This pandemic led to Violet’s birth, which only happened through hardships and hard work. The solitude way to accomplish is to work hard, and the only way to truly learn and understand something is through pain. Many people are suffering due to coronavirus, but look at the bright side. New medicines and vaccines are being created, and innovation is everywhere. With a problem, there is a solution. And with failure, comes success.

Coronavirus has swept through the United States and many schools had been shut down. Even when a pandemic like this is happening there are still many people who have been infected due to lack of testing. For example, to have an official count of coronavirus, they will have to test every one first. However, data shows that the cases in the United States are probably being undercounted rather than overcounted. There are three reasons why that has happened.

primarily, In “How are COVID-19 deaths counted?” by  Stephanie Pappas stats that. “Death certificates can be signed by a physician who was responsible for a patient who died in a hospital, which accounts for many COVID-19 deaths.” This means that the counts counted a great number of people that have died, died in a hospital. Therefore it means that a lot of people have not been counted because that did not get identified. Same with getting the vires.

following, the next reason that this has happened was that “Contributing factors such as heart disease, diabetes or high blood pressure would then be listed further down. This has led to some confusion by people arguing that the “real” cause of death was heart disease or diabetes, Aiken said, but that’s not the case.” says Stephanie Pappas. And this causes people to not count some of the cases that they knew. It also makes people believe that COVID-19 is not that dangerous.

The last reason that the counts for COVID-19 were undercounted was that the leader of a state or country sometimes does not tell the real count. The reason for that is so they will not make their country look bad. In my opinion, that was not a smart house because people need to have a consequential number, in this case, to get alerted. And understand how dangerous COVID-19 really is.

To draw things to a close, the numbers of COVID-19 counts need to be accurate to keep people alerted, so they can keep themselves safe.

The story “A Modest Proposal” is a about a proposal to solve poverty in Ireland. Jonathan Swift, the writer, claims that selling and eating kids could make it so the parents will earn money and people wouldn’t need to use livestock as food, instead selling beef to earn money. He claims this idea could make it so there will be no poverty in England and the economy would rise as well as population. However, I think this would be the opposite of proactive and is very inhuman.

I feel like this proposal has many flaws in a logical sense and in a ethical sense. He claims that there will be no poverty and poverty is not easily solved. Most likely there will be more poverty because meat sellers might not have enough meat to sell due to the uprising nourishment of children’s meat. At first this might sound it would work, but this idea is just very inhuman and absurd. Do you want to eat somebody’s child for dinner? Or what about your own child? See, normal human beings wouldn’t want that especially since many people sees that as cannibalism, which is illegal in most parts of the world. To kill and eat children just to solve a problem that cannot be solved depends too much on luck and is way to disgusting. But what about population rising? Well he also says that specific people could produce more children that will stay alive, but how long until kids like those stay unaware of their surroundings. Sooner or later the children will know that their friends or siblings are being eaten and how will that damage them psychologically? I can’t even imagine.

Additionally, you, eating children would mean that your eating away at your own population, which is pretty ironic for a solution trying to raise the population. I also don’t agree with the writer because he’s not only said that children should be eaten, but he “wouldn’t mind” if high class women are eaten too. This statement is really bold and I wouldn’t be surprised if he went to jail for saying that in public. His idea of a good society is what he explained in his proposal, a society that eats its own people and treats its own people as mere livestock. Can you bear to live in a society that does just that? To “raise” the population and “solve” poverty? No, I would certainly not do that and I advise you to think so too.

This “modest” proposal of his is nowhere humble and is really absurd. I hope you will agree with me on this, but I still admire about how he dare propose this as an actual solution. Poverty is a global problem that is really devastating. But would you rather keep poverty, or eat your own children for food? I would say no to eating our offsprings and no, to Jonathan Swift’s Modest Proposal.

Violet is a robot that can detect COVID 19 and uses a UV light to do it. The UV light is a dangerous thing because it can suck DNA from bodies and yeah. Why do we give a robot this dangerous thing even with the motion sensors on it, it still shines it at you for a second.

Second the robot is based off of Steve who cleans the rooms so that the COVID 19 person doesn’t spread it to others who use the same chair. So now there is a lot of robots that are armed with UV lights. Aren’t you worried that one day the motion sensor might fail and a person dies.

Still it’s the best thing so far so when the virus is over what do the robots do they can’t do anything so they get thrown into the junkyard so the junkyard will have a lot of radiation so the junkyards will be a dangerous place to go.

Now many people have died from COVID-19. We have tried many different ways to stop it from spreading. We are even making vaccines, but that is isn’t it. Robots are now helping us too.

A professor at Trinity College Dublin and his colleagues are focusing on if they can equip one of their robot’s, Stevie, an ultraviolet light that could be powerful enough to kill pathogens, but not hurt the humans. Ultraviolet light at wavelengths between 200 and 280 nanometers is also called a UV-C light. It can cause DNA to change its shape, or act like scissors that cut through them.

Hospitals have machines that sterilize the rooms that are mostly empty because the light can cause sunburns that can lead to skin cancer. Which means that they cannot clean areas in the hospital such as the waiting room.

So, the team started to draw a design for a new robot that could navigate by itself and work alongside humans but what was different is that is equipped with a UV-C light in it. They would this call this robot Violet.

I like this article because of how it is said and the doctors are trying to make the world healthier. This will talk all about a robot named Violet who will help stop the pandemic.

Violet is a robot that is created to kill the coronavirus. Many should read this article because of reasons that will stop the germs from infecting others. I think this will help all the people who are sick and those who can be infected.

What Violet does is that it uses a particular kind of UV-C light that is invisible to the naked eye. When the light hits a microorganism, it will infect its Deoxyribonucleic acid and stop the germs and the illness from reproducing to infect others. I feel like that this will keep the coronavirus contained and save everyone.

The UV-C light is very dangerous if it is exposed to the human body many times. Violet was made so it would not hurt anybody so it will stop working and turn off the light once someone is close to it. This will help a lot of people from getting injured.

The robot does not have any anthropomorphic so it will not know if it hurts anyone, but it will halt the coronavirus if it works. I think this will be a huge difference in this pandemic we have right now and it will give us the chance to go back to standard lives.

Robots that are like Violet are necessary until vaccine for covid-19 are made. They are necessary because without them, we will risk even more live to covid-19. If a robot gets the virus, no biggie but if the best doctor in the world gets the virus, it’s gonna be a problem. Also, if a doctor is helping a infected patient, there’s a chance he/she may spread the virus to other people.

One of the important reasons is that we cannot help everyone who is infected, there is just not enough equipment and medics are too busy. If there are robots who could help, they can help save more lives and medics would be not as busy as before but still will be busy. These are the reasons why robots that are like Violet are necessary until vaccine for covid-19 are made.
