Seventh Grade by Gary Soto

I think that this story is a very good one. It can be relatable when you are trying to impress a girl you like. I think the theme fo the story is that don’t always be overconfident at something you don’t know how to do. If you do you could be embarrassing yourself.

This story is about a seventh-grader that is in love with this other girl named Teresa. He knows that Teresa is going to learn french so he decides to take it too. He meets with his friend and he had seen many men modeling. they were all scowling so he decided to try it.

When he was in french class, he wanted to impress Teresa so when the teacher asked who knew french, he raised his hand. When the teacher said some french he started to blush. he said some weird things. The teacher knew he didn’t know french, but the rest of the class didn’t. When class ended Teresa told him that she didn’t know he could speak french and that could he teach her some.

I think he is now in a big issue. He’s got to learn some french to teach Teresa and fast or else he might lose her. If you want, go read the short story. I hope you will like it.
