Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is widely recognized as one of the greatest composers in the history of Western music. He was a child prodigy, one of music’s greatest treasures, but what made him so important and famous? Mozart is one of the greatest composers because of how talented he was, how influential he was to coming generations, and how he shaped the future development of classical music.
Mozart was a very gifted child prodigy, and perhaps one of the most famous child prodigy in history. He started composing music when he was four and knew how to play the piano at age three. At an age of four, Mozart even self taught himself how to play the violin. Even though he only lived until 35, he composed over 600 pieces of music. Mozart was so naturally gifted when it came to music that when he was blindfolded, he was able to recognize the played notes. This was said that he had “perfect pitch.” Being a child prodigy gave him the ability to create many pieces of music early in his life, thus making him a very famous composer.
Mozart was one of the most influential composers of the Classical Era. Two of the most important areas he has influenced are piano concertos and symphonies. Mozart wrote many of them, as he wrote 27 piano concertos in his lifetime. During the early eighteenth century, the symphony a short piece, only ten to twenty minutes long, and was different in complexity and drama compared to some of Mozart’s works.
